shoulder pain

I'm self-diagnosing again (bad habit), and if my stool doesn't change back to normal color by morning, I'll call my doctor. I don't know if gall bladder issues are hereditary, but its another one of those things I have family history of.

But hey, thanks for asking about my poop! You all are the greatest.
hi clinpic...i know nothing about gall bladder problems, but i did read several posts some time ago about women experiencing shoulder pain after hysterectomies. i don't know if this would apply to the kind you had, vaginal, but when they do abdominal surgery, they pump in gas or something into the abdominal cavity (expands the area) so that they can see all the organs better. that's one reason we have a lot of gas pains in the abdominal area, but not unusual to have gas pains in the shoulder and other areas. (there are other reasons for gas pains as well)!

some years ago i had these "attacks" such as you've had where i've awakened in the middle of the night with nausea, vomitting and terrible stomach pains where i would be "crying" in pain, spending hours on the bathroom floor. i would never go to e.r...couldn't imagine sitting there in so much discomfort. it would pass after several hours. never did find out the cause of those 3 attacks. dr. thought it could have been a cyst on my ovary. soon after i had a d & c for polyps in my uterus. since menopause, no more attacks. (i think it was you that mentioned being on the bathroom floor in terrible pain...sorry if i'm mistaken!)

anyways, you're best to talk over everything with your dr. hope it isn't anything too serious. good luck!

I have heard of many women have gall bladder problems after delivery. Maybe the same kind of system disruption could cause the problem now?? Good luck, Becky...praying for you tonight.

Jane

PS: Yes, I wrote to the Oprah show. Told them how we have bonded over BM's and that she should do a show on the Hystersister site and us. We'll see.

Becky, my thoughts and prayers are with you, as well. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Cindy, I agree with you 100%. For some reason doctors don't seem to take women as serious as they do men. I would ask and research until you are completely satisfied. I know too many friends who have had to self diagnose and nine times out of ten were correct in what they thought they had. No one knows our bodies like we do.

Jane, very cool about the Oprah submission. I'm sure she'll get a kick out of it, if nothing else. Her shows always embrace women and I think this is a subject not too many women know about until they have to have it done. Keep us posted on that!

Well sisters, I'm about ready for bed. Been a long day - tired more then usual and still feeling this ache in my lower right side. Sweet ones! s Paula

Jane: Thanks for emailing Oprah!! Too funny! You never know, she might just have us on and give out free swelly band's and Nouvelle dots!!
Also, the whole pale poop thing is a riot! As funny as it sounds, it is good to know and pay attention to. I really appreciate the candid talk here. It is SO HELPFUL!

Oh my gosh! I did way too much today, I just went to church for lunch and little meeting of some nice old ladies who I just love, but Holy cow! my swelly belly is huge! DH came home today and saw my belly and said "your grounded, no more extra activities for you!"
It did feel good to be out of the house!

my biggest and worst experience has been the emotional part. I cry A LOT and have been dealing with depression and anxiety since. The physical part of it has been a walk in the park, if only the emotional side of it were that easy. I never expected the crying and depression would be so bad. Of course, I had cancer mixed in there too which I'm sure didn't help a bit. My therapist says I'm suffering from Post-traumatic shock syndrome because everything hit so hard and so fast and now I'm left feeling very anxious and depressed.

my DH cant believe I talk to all you guys as much as I do. I have gotten so much support from this. I laughed when I heard the name hystersisters but I am so glad I followed through with this since I am a computer illiterate. I still dont know if I am posting on the right thread. I am so glad to find out that superwife is ok. I havnt seen her on much so hopefully she is following DRS orders. Starting to feel nervous about going to work. I work at a major hospital and have to transport patients in beds . Even though I am feeling really good I dont think I am ready for that. I feel like I am taking advantage of my surgery . What do you guys think?
