My dr. said specifically no ab work for 8 more weeks from the time I was in for my follow up. He actually stitched up my abs from above the belly button down the center from where he seperated them. I trust him on this, When I run I can feel it behind my belly button. It feels like incision pain.

I agree with you on the ab work Distracted!! It sounds like he had to cut muscle and vertically which is not good and will take longer to heal. I was luckier-doc said he cut no muscle. I put on a bit of weight I think-haven't been on the scale, but I am getting swelly belly more now. It's from the stress of teaching (man THAT takes a lot of physical work) and from doing longer rides outside. We did our first sponsored ride since surgery this past weekend-55 miles. But man o man I paid for it-we actually had to stop at a gas station on the way home after the ride so I could change out of my riding tights-they were way too tight from the swelling. It's been 48 hours and I'm still a bit swollen. It was so good to be back in the saddle-but it was a very hard ride-hot and humid. We had a few riders who didn't make it the whole way and I saw one throwing up by the side of the road. Thank goodness for the support vans on these rides/races.
I miss all of you too-been so busy here trying to plan cycling classes and then all the cycling wears me out. I'm doing really well..considering-just don't have reserve energy. I'm really loading up on mosquito repellant-they're bad here and I'm more concerned with West Nile Virus this summer because of my compromised immune system from surgery. Y'all hang in there and remember we've been through the worst-it just gets better each day. ((HUGS)) Becky

Hey Girls ......

Well after the joy of seeing the ole' Swelly Belly begin to dissapear - it's back with a vengence !
I just know that it's what we all have because it grows with exercise - the more we do - the more it grows ! When I moan about it to others who've had a hysterectomy they just raise their eyes to the heavens as if to say - 'didn't you know that's what happens' .... well I didn't and I'm cross to be facing the summer looking like a porpoise!!!!

We've booked a holiday to Greece with some friends in September - when it's a bit cooler - and I've bought some gorgeous bikini's - hope it's all gone by then ! but as Becky says - we are thro the worst and thank God are well enough to share our experiences and only have the belly to worry about ..... ouch must pop off for a second - I have tint on my roots and it's starting to STIIIIINNNNGGGG !!!!

whew - 5 minutes and I'm back - it costs about $200 dollars in your money to get a haircut and colour over here - so lots of us do at least the colour at home if we can, which is why I'm now dripping all over the p.c. so I'll go before I electrocute myself

Hugs to all - at least we're more cuddly at the moment ! xxxx Lenaise

Hi ladies-

I am excited to see that I am not the only one out there that is feeling swelly belly after physical exercise. Its not too bad, but its still there. As you know, I started running again...about 3 miles every other day. My body and mind feel great, and have responded well. BUT....I am still sore around my left side incision site and I have lots of nerve-twinge pain in the area around where my cervix was removed. This is also where I feel pain when I urinate. This pain has been with me since the surgery, and I am hoping that it will eventually go away with time. It feels like little knives stabbing me from the bottom up. I also feel like there is a lot of pressure pushing down on my va-jay-jay and rectum at times. I have looked at the other posts, and it seems that some ladies are getting hernias. But, I don't think that is what I have. The Doc told me that I was going to be sore on my left side for quite a while, since he "worked" the area trying to get my uterus out. I am concerned about a prolaps though? Any ideas ladies?

In the mean time, I have been working working working, and trying to stay cool. Summer hit with a vengeance here in Texas...98 today!

Talk to you soon,

Leah

By the way, I am not really "excited" that you have swelly belly.... what i was trying to say is that I am somewhat relieved to hear that what I am experiencing may be normal under the circumstances. Sorry if that sounded kinda mean.

ach Rabbit !!

we know jolly well you're glad we're all tubby ! (not really !)

I'm just jealous you can run. I haven't any problems with pain etc even in the (cough cough) moments in the bedroom .... not even a twinge across the incision - in fact the only reason I remember the surgery is that I cant understand why I have so much energy and can do so much ... then I remember my 'parasite' has been removed ! Perhaps you should see your GP (doctor) to check everything is ok - specially as hernias are in the pipeline - glad I haven't read about that ! - scary .....

anybody out there using an estrogen jelly - 1mg rubbed in each day ? if so how are getting on with it 3 months post op ?

cheerio chaps from England ( where the weather is *@!$**#[email protected]* awful)

Lenaise:
I was wanting cream, but my doctor put me on pills. That lasted 2 weeks before I quit them due to 12 pound weight gain, migraine headaches, etc.

Good luck!

hey paige69

why dont you ask for a jel - tell the doctor that it's better than a pill because the kidneys & liver dont have to process anything - also if there is no uterus you dont need the nasty progesterone stuff - just the happy estrogen stuff ! I've had no weight gain in 3 months and use Sandrena ( also known as Estreva) and I'm great !

it protects against heart attacks and osteoperosis too ! my skin has never looked better - I'm 53 but no one at work believes me !! I have to show them pictures of my little darling Mia aged just 3 to prove I'm a grandma ...

go for it girl - you know what they say - 'you're worth it !'

Hello all. I got to realizing yesterday as I was running through the Detroit airport that it had been the three month mark, yay!. The only issue is that sex still hurts internally so I'm going to have to check with my dr on that one.

The weather has been quite abnormal for us in Wyoming. We've had rain and things are green and growing. It's been eight years of draught so this is such a welcome reprieve. My flowers are beautiful and blooming like mad, especially the geraniums.

I just got back from my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary. How amazing is that? In this day and age my 24th coming up is a milestone. My grandma has been pretty ill but still managed to get to the celebration. I really don't know if I'll have opportunity to see her again so I certainly cherish the time I did have.

Well, love and hugs to you all. I hope that the others that haven't posted in ages know we still think fondly of them

Becky
