dear bas4cas,
I'm glad you found our site. I had help finding this site from a friend on another site. It's been invaluable to me. By the way I was born in Elkhart (41 years ago ).

Feel sure to ask your questions and concerns, share your stories, help us get to know you. You are now an official hystersister!

Doing Well!

I had my surgery on March 23 @ 12:30. I was released from the hospital on Sunday @ about the same time. I had a total hysterectomy. It was a vaginal procedure. I was looking around the web and found this wonderful site. I feel good. I am walking around and, lucky enough, am being pampered. I feel a bit bored, since I'm not one to stay put, but after looking around this wonderful site, realized that I must take care now since this is my only chance. There have only been a few times that I stand and feel just the slightest lighheadedness. It goes away quickly and I usually just go back and relax. I feel a slight pull on my sides, in and around my ovaries. Hopefully, that's pretty normal. Now on my 12th day, I can say that it is going well.
I have to add that it feels great to share my experience and to read those of others. To add, I am 42 years old and kept my ovaries and tubes. My decision to have this surgery was due to a polyp that was found in my uterus. I became so fearful after it was sent for biopsy. Although it came back benign, I was shaken. I haven't ventured beyond my driveway or back yard. I also have a mother and friends that have had this surgery, although they had it all taken out. My mother has been my biggest supporter and some of my aunts have also shared their experiences with me on their surgeries. I have found that so many ladies in my family have had this surgery and I feel as if I'm now part of yet another sisterhood.
Thanks, again, for this site. It is a great resource and has answered many of my questions.

Well emptying the bladder is a little easier for me the past couple of days.
BM is still a chore most of the time, but as long as it works it works.

Drove to the bank today.
I went bye-bye!!!
The truck's shocks are shot and I felt every blasted bump.
Gonna steal hubby's van for the two trips I need to make this week

Managed to shave, so I don't look like Big Foot's mum any more.
I long to soak in my antique claw foot tub with lots of bubbles, but hand held shower unit has to work for now.
I feel more human but at the same time a little tired.

I've been having odd dreams here and there.
A little creepy when I dream my best friend takes me out to lunch and then calls the next day to see if I feel up to it, her treat (she's never taken me out to lunch before)
*plays theme from Twilight Zone*

And she announces she is going to be a grandmother.......
oh
my
goodness
!!!!

Her son just got engaged and the girl graduates THIS year.
The girl's mom is having fits.
My friend is taking it in stride.

Me???

Excellent warning to show my son

2 weeks is getting closer.
Congrats to the ladies who made it the past couple of days.

Saw reading mentioned
I've managed the Crystal Singer trilogy by Anne McCaffrey (about the 20th time I've read them) The Hobbit, and on to Lord of the Rings.

My son got me a Ninetendo DS a couple of months ago and gets me games (pay back from all the games I got him??? LOL) and finished a game he got me. He found a game he borrowed from me so I can play it again.

And there is always Neopets with over 150 games to keep me entertained.

Managed to watch a movie last night

So life is getting back to normal, hopefully

Hey Miette! Yea, I'm not too thrilled wearing shorts either. I'm 5'4 1/2" - vertically challenged as I say! I'd like to lose 20 lbs. but that just ain't happening! I don't want to be skinny, just feel more comfortable in my size 8's. I've been hovering close to 10, which isn't horrible, but not where I wish to be.

You'll have to send pics of your lovely home. I haven't a clue what your country looks like and I'm always so facinated by other places. Seems as though our seasons run the same.

How are you feeling!!! Sounds like the house will be looking quite spiffy soon and you and DH will be poorer! Wish I had one to spruce up. BF and I are in the process of buying one, but it's contingent upon the sale of his townhouse - which is a nice place, but moving slowly in the current market.

Hope you sleep well tonight (if you're not already dreaming!) Chat more tomorrow.

s - your US Sis!!!!

Well, I already finished reading NIGHT - I read it all today. A must read.

Mersey - Nintendo DS - My son has one and I think I enjoy it as much as he does. Any idea on how to beat the last castle in level 8 on super mario bros.???

I've just taken it easy today - as you can see by reading all day. But I guess that's good once in a while!

Other than that - I have been watching the Planet Earth series on Discovery Channel - really interesting.

That's it for now - talk to you later.

Tomorrow is 2 weeks for Mar. 21 surgeries!

suzie-q, bas4cas & tigerlillyjt - !!! This is such an awesome place where we whine, laugh, vent, cry, pee and have BM's (though not all comfortably). We're trying to figure out what to do with the tampons and pads that are no longer needed. Seems there are several websites that make suggestions on how to make angels, and whatnot out to them. One of the ladies is donating hers to the local HS so the boys can used them to stop nose bleeds. The uses are just never ending!

We're so happy you found us! It just doesn't get better then the ability to share with other women who truly know what you're going through!

Rabitt757, it's truly amazing what was kept from us while growing up. I'm sure your mom was happy to be able to share this experience with you and it's opened a lot of communication lines between the two of you. Didn't drive today, but I have all intentions of doing so either tomorrow or Thursday - will stay local.

Mersey, our little spitfire, sorry the truck caused you so much discomfort....sounds like the puppy needs serious attention. So happy your lovely legs are hairfree! I've been doing mine pretty regularly, but I can't get near my incision and will begin to look a tad shaggy in the weeks to come because I cannot picture shaving near my incision.

s to all the new sisters and all the regulars! Paula

All you novel readers just really impress me. I'm not one...my mom and both sisters read every book they can get their hands on. I would rather read a magazine. I have read 3 scrapbook magazines/4 scrapbook books and completed about 30 digital scrapbook pages during this recovery period.

Kylieema...I also have also been enjoying the Planet Earth series on Discovery channel. Very interesting!!!

Wow Mersey you drove today...that's really exciting! I'm doing good to take a walk around the backyard and I don't see the Dr. until Monday maybe I will get permission for more things then.

clinpic-becky...I can't believe you were born in Elkhart...I never thought when I posted here that I would meet another one born in Elkhart. I am actually 38 so we are pretty close in age. And our surgery's were so close together to boot... Hope you are recovering well. Glad you chimmed in and shared that info with me. Nice to meet you.

I hope you ALL have a very restful night!
