Hey girls!

I finally found this new thread! A great idea - I just hope I can keep the two straight!!

Hope you are all doing well.

Since this is a chit-chat thread, I guess I'll just talk about the books I've been reading. I just finished For Laci by Sharon Rocha, and I'm also done with Lucky Man by Michael J. Fox. Not much else to do when you're stuck inside and it's cold and snowy outside!

I've also been enjoying my favorite TV shows: CSI: Miami, 24, the AMAZING RACE, House, and American Idol.

I'll use the other thread for hyst-related issues/pain, I guess.

I also had the best Singapore Salmon with rice from Max & Erma's last night in case anyone lives near one.

Well, I'm going to go over and look at our other thread and catch up over there.

Happy Easter! When will the warmer weather arrive??????????

Good morning everyone. Happy blessed Easter to all of you. I'm very excited to go to church this morning (missed last week due to a very painful morning). We are all up and getting ready. My dh is our pastor, and all of us the rest of us will participate in music - choir, etc.

Its freezing here in Wyoming, 18 degrees but the son is shining.

Be blessed and special hugs.

*nogreatmischief, I believe you are absolutely right on target. I don't think for one second anyone doesn't want us to continue to bond, which just as important to our recovery as venting, and "infogathering".

I think that's the exact reason there are so many forums here on this site.....so that once we get past the needing info, we can find a place to feel like home, and stick around.

I used to be a part of the leadership team of an online group. We had specific places to chit chat about things, just to keep it less confusing to new women, and easier to moderate.........not to keep the gals from getting to know each other better, and forming life long friendships.

We have our spot now, and I believe that as long as we continue to follow the guidelines we all agreed to when we joined up, we can talk about anything we want to here!!

SafeOne? How are you doing today?

Happy Easter to all of you!

UTI pain?

Hi girls,

I posted on the other thread too, but wanted to ask about this problem on this thread...

I've had a UTI for a few days, am taking antibiotics and still need ibuprofen for the lower pelvic pain, which I'm assuming is associated with the UTI. It is mostly on the lower left side. I'm wondering if I should call the doc cause I only have a couple days of antiobiotics left. Or could it be pain from the TVH that is still lingering? I'm just not sure!

Good news is that since I started the migraine preventitive, I have not had a migraine!

I am a little frustrated because I was feeling good after about 2 weeks since my TVH/BSO and thought I'd be able to get out and about, but then I got this UTI and migraine issue, so I feel like I'm never going to get better! Anyone else feeling like that?

I wrote you all on our new thread, but wanted to whine a little about my night here in our recovery thread. I am having rough nights! There is a lot of strange aching, crampy, pulling, tugging, tightening pain in my lower abdomen where my uterus should be. And it's not something I can ignore. I try to distract myself but it's too painful. The tylenol doesn't do anything for it. I might try Ibuprofen instead.

I am also having a lot of problems with my diabetes post-op. I have posted about it on the big board too.

I'm getting really nervous about being left alone with all my kids on Tuesday. They will go back to school but only for a half of a day. My DH has been home for three weeks (isn't he a sweetheart?) and now he's going to return to work. I'm not sure how well I will do with house and home and kids and everything on my own. I don't know what level of expectation to have for myself.

Anyway, love to you all... will post more later.

dear miette...i'm having all those feelings also in my abdomen. the night-time is the worst but my dr. balanced out the pain meds so i can get thru the night fairly comfortably.

i'm not a medical professional, but from my own experience, i think you need stronger painkillers. tylenol did nothing for me other than make me nauseated. i'm taking hydromorphone and hydromorphone contin (at night)...i get a little drowsy for awhile, then become alert and able to do a few things. i do worry about you being left alone with the children though...maybe ask a friend or relative to stay with you for another week and then assess your situation. my dr. says the hydromorphone has fewer side effects than percocet.

i have no idea how long this pain will last. i recovered so quickly from my 1st surgery on feb. 19, but this one is taking much longer and more pain. please see your dr. about pain control and if at first, what he or she recommends isn't working for you, then go back and consult again until you get something that does work. i realize you also have your diabetes to look after.

good luck and i hope your pain lessens every day.

Nogreat: Thank you so much

I have a friend I can ask to come here next week for the daytimes. She has already offered to help out. I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier! LOL.. oi.. brainfog!?! She and her hubby are coming over tonight for coffee so I'll ask her then.

I'm scared to ask my doctor for more pain meds. Isn't he going to think I'm being a wimp? I have tried Ibuprofen today and it didn't touch it...now nighttime is coming on and I'm starting to really hurt again.
I'll call the doctor's office on Tuesday morning and see if I can't get an acute appointment.

Thanks so much, sweetie!

I'm so sorry that you're still hurting! IMHO, no, your doctor won't think you're a wimp for needing pain meds. We all heal differently and our pain comes and goes at different levels of intensity. You're the only one who knows how badly you're hurting, and your doctor should respect that. I think it's a very good idea for you to call your doctor and make an appointment. He may be able to tell if there's something else going on that needs further attention.

Hugs to you, my friend - hope you have an easy night!

freezia, several of us have experienced weird bladder sensations during our recovery, including me. Kinda feels like "pressure," although that's not the correct word either - just hard to describe! I've read where it may be bladder "spasms" from the catheter. I'm just hoping it will go away soon - it's a strange feeling!
