Becky, I have been freezing too. I sit here with a down blanket and another heavy blanket too. Plus those fuzzy house slippers and socks. It usually takes me through the afternoon to finally get warmed up. I was able to keep one ovary and haven't really had any "hot flashes" before or after...whew! But I can really understand being cold. And that's just not me. Pre op I was always hot. Well, anyway, my dr. told me it is hormones. But may not be the same for you.

That's my two cents worth!

Cindy

Oh yeah, and I'm also sweating in the pits alot. The two should not go hand in hand.

Hello hello!

Let's see... today is 3 weeks 1 day. I'm doing better with pain. I wish I had a little more energy and stamina, but I think that will come with time. I took my after-dinner-walk today and then drove a short distance to the grocery store. I didn't count on the basket being so heavy though, and consequently, I'm a little sore now. It did feel good to be a little independent there for awhile!

Hugs,
-Miette

Becky and Cindy,

I've been cold as well. Cold all through winter, but thought it was because I was anemic from my heavy periods (had to take iron tabs to build up for surgery). Still cold, but because I lost quite a bit of blood during the surgery, I'm still anemic so maybe that's the reason - what do you think? Had a few night sweats right after I got home from the hospital, but didn't realize what they were since I kept my ovaries. I will sometimes get a little warm at night, but no more night sweats and I'm more cold than hot. Even my cold-natured husband is surprised - my hands and feet are like ice and I frequently use him as my "heater" (tee-hee!).

Well we all have our ovaries still so maybe things will regulate.

I am having the same problem. I had an LAVH 3 weeks ago and have been freezing since (also the sweaty pits). I have tried to get some info through google. Did find out that there are also "cold flashes" not just "hot flashes". Not sure if it is just perimenapause hitting in a preculiar way or not. I have felt like this since surgery. Always wearing sweats and fuzzy socks just to keep warm.

Oh ladies, the talk about 20 something dd's. I can so relate. My daughter 22 years old lives about 30 miles from me and came to the hospital once and was here three times since my surgery. I thought she should be here more and call me more but I do think it's just difficult for our children to see us as 'weak', especially if we have been those type A, do it all care givers their entire life. I cried that first day and made my husband call her and ask her when she was coming (hormones probably). I wanted her sympathy and I didn't really get any from her. I try to think about how I may have reacted to my own mother's immortality at that age and it probably would have been the same. DD and I have weathered many a storm but are truly best friends. Kind of like the deserting friends we talked about a few days ago. I love her to death and I know if I pushed her she'd be here and do whatever I asked of her. But I learned a long time not to push. Hang in there Mary. I am praying for you and your daughter today.

I'm being a good girl today, Becky! You know what that means.....tomorrow is another day!!!

I can certainly relate to all the discussion around our 20-something kids. My son visited me in the hospital the night of my surgery, and he didn't come back. I think all the tubes and IVs, etc., rather freaked him out, not to mention the thought of Mom being in the middle of them. My daughter, on the other hand, came to visit a couple of times and stayed for awhile each time. However, she still didn't quite "get it" that Mom was out of commission for awhile. For example, she scheduled her wedding shower only 10 days after my hysterectormy!!! I asked her to reschedule it for later, and she asked why . . . . .

I was also hurt because I didn't hear from either of them the entire weekend after my surgery (went home Friday night) and ended up crying about it to my hubby. Bless his heart, he had been fending off the calls and telling the kids that I wasn't up to visitors yet!!

I think it's hard for our "kids" to see us in this way - asking for help instead of being the one to take over. I know that it's been difficult for me - I'm not one to let folks do for me. I'm rather independent and have been all my life. Guess this has been a good learning experience for all of us.

Hi Ladies!!!

Becky, Cindy, Suzie & Doggone.......Glad to hear it's not only me. I seem to be turning up the heat more often when no one else here is cold. Then I heat up too much. It's a vicious cycle. Possibly our ovaries are still in the midst of shock, though I can't say I'm suffering from much else. Sweaty pits, a bit, but nothing terrible.

Lenaise - Happy Birthday!!!! Many more healthy, happy ones! My belly is still a bit preggars looking too. I'm starting to think if it's been fat all along! When my doctor first examined me, pre op, she told me my belly looked 3-4 months pregnant. Maybe it was just me! Hope that changes! (Funny about the glasses or lunch your dr. may have left inside!)

All and all a decent day. Went shopping with my friend and was able to walk around a while. However, by 1:30 or so I was ready to take a nap! Proof positive that I won't be going back to work anytime soon.

Love ya's! Paula
