Any May sisters out there?

Melicat-
You shouldn't worry! Mine went very easily. My doctor talked to me, showed a video, went over instructions, and I signed the consent forms. I then had my hospital pre-op. They did bloodwork and an EKG, talked to me about allergies, anesthesia, etc.
That was it! I am having a TVH so no bowel prep. Yea!
I will respond to your other message soon. Having a busy day. Husband is at work until 10pm and the kids are all running wild!!

purple haze-
Yay for the good EKG and good Doctor! How considerate! Glad everything is go for you!
Melicat-
Pre-op was fine, if you have any questions, and I did!, write them down. I brought a sheet with me and we went through them all. There are some questions in the pre-op tab at the top of the page that are great to get you started.

Any May sisters out there?

Well 2 more days till my surgery, I hope I am scheduled for early in the am (won't know the time of the surgery till the afternoon before) or else I may just say forget it, and call in well! I just keep telling myself that once I heal from the surgery I will feel so much better and I can finally get my life on track again. I am trying to get the last things done around here so the house can run without me. I am very picky about the way my house looks, I have been training the kids 10 and 16, to feed the dogs, water my garden,do laundry, vaccum etc. Or else i will be out there doing it myself. I keep stressing to them that if I have to do it myself it will just take that much longer for me to heal...My husband is saying he will help but you know how that goes, he will be yelling at the kids to get it done... UGGGG
I wish everyone else luck and will be praying for a speedy recovery for all of you!!
TAH w/removal of both overies am I nuts!!

Melicat... Pre-op is nothing to worry about! I just had mine on Friday, blood work, blood pressure, possible ekg... Nothing crazy. A consult w/ the hospital.. ONE THING, they kept reminding me.... Ask your Dr for the pain pump. You can give yourself a dose every 5 mins!!! Good luck w/ yours!

Any May sisters out there?

Dont worry about any of it. I too was perplexed when my doctor didnt prescribe any pre op stuff for me. All are different. My pre op consisted of filling out all the hospital paperwork, meeting an anasthesiologist, doing a blood draw, meeting with my doctor, meeting a nurse who explained the morphine pump. All were open to answering any questions I had. Dr. said since Id had no issues with anasthesia I didnt need to "practice" with a breathing tool, or have a bowel prep. All went well during/after surgery...

Melicat,
Don't worry about your pre-op tests not being scheduled yet. I'm sure that the doctor will go over that with you when you see him tomorrow. My doctor told me that the hospital would call me to schedule them and as long as they were done within a week of the surgery, that would be ok. I called the pre-admission testing department at the hospital and scheduled them only because I'm hoping to be going away (something to look forward to!) for 4 days in the middle of that last week and wanted to make sure that I could get the appointment when I needed it.

And always remember, if your doctor doesn't volunteer information, ASK...sometimes I think they assume we know more than we actually do about the logistics.

Good luck!

Any May sisters out there?

Good luck to all of the May sisters! I'm going to the castle on May 9th. This site has really calmed my fears and I'm actually getting anxious just to get it over with! I'm soo tired of the pain that I can hardly stand the wait any longer. I've finished up my last visit from 'Fred the Red' as my sister calls it. YEAH NO MORE!!! Who HOO!!!!

I'm also finishing up one of my online classes that just happens to end the day before my sugery. It's funny how well that worked out. I have so much to do to prepare for the surgery! Does anyone know if traveling back home (2 hours away) is a good idea the day after LSH? I know I'll ask my doctor when I go in but I'm a planner - seems to set my mind at ease a little. As far as recouping... My DH is staying home with me the entire week I'm recouping. (I've already asked for a bell but by the look on his face I can already tell that is out of the question!) haha. Well good luck to you all! Thank you all for helping answer so many questions I have had leading up to this surgery. It has calmed my fears and helped me to know what to expect.

Any May sisters out there?

Hi,
I am scheduled for a TAH on May 9th...I've also been spending time with friends. Taking lots of photos for scrapbooking while I am off recovering. Work can stay there, I'd rather read my ever growing stash of great books and play with my animals while at home. Good luck to all of the May Ladies everywhere!!!!
