I have learned never to underestimate the capacity for people to say stupid things. However on the bright side it makes it so much more amazing when people are kind and thoughtful -- which they often are! My glass is half full!!

Ah, a person who finds that the glass is half full. It's refreshing since I know so many people who probably peed in that glass and then griped about how it was half empty.

I was once told by another woman locally that until you've been where a woman who has to or has had a hysterectomey is, you'll never even be able to comprehend what it entails. Very true!!

Anywhoo... I've got two new ones.

I came home around 8:30 pm the day following my surgery & it was not under good circumstances (that's a whole other story). Fast forward to the next morning - I slept in the recliner in the living room & was returning to it from the bathroom when DD (16 yrs. old & in that self-centered teenager phase) says "Oh, you're up. I need you to drive me to so & so's house right now." Obviously, I told her she was out of her mind. So, what does she do but go get my mom who flew in to help us out & demand that she take her. We were just getting up for the day. Anyway, she thought she'd pull the "I'll just walk in the snow, wind, & 20 degrees weather..." line thinking that my mom would come after her but we let her stubborn little rear end freeze & walk down there. Her friends did bring her home though.

The next one I've gotten a number of times is along the lines of "I wish I could take a 6 week vacation." or "I bet you got a bunch of stuff done with your time off." I was flat on my back the first two weeks with a spinal headache so not a whole lot happened then. By the time I was up, I had to start a bit of bookwork for work from home on my laptop. Whatever energy I had, that pretty much took...yea, right, nice vacation!

People sometimes... their obsurdity makes me laugh!

Good luck to all my sisters!

Arlynn,

You are TOO funny! I just finished my good laugh for the day. The sad thing is you don't know how dead on you are in what you said. My daughter has gone through puberty identically to how I did, even down the being the same ages when things happened. She was sent to gyn at 14 by pediatrician as her cramping was uncontrollable. A year on the pill got it so she somewhat functions & isn't in bed 3 days every cycle. Her cramps are still bad. I caught her taking 5 Advil the other day for them & told her BIG NO-NO! I wasn't much of an example though - 4 didn't touch much of anything for me. I didn't do 5 though as I know even the 4 aren't good for you. I can't tell her a whole lot at this point - her & I butt heads horribly right now. Anyways, I do worry this is her legacy. I guess the good thing is that if she has issues down the road, she'll be able to cite me & my pathology. Surprisingly, it was my 18 yr. old DS who's been the most sensitive & supporting to my hys. Doesn't surprise me though - despite being involved in athletics, anything outdoors, being rough & tumble, he has always been one to help people. He can be quite compassionate. Anyways, thanks for the great giggle!

Sue
