Ok. Since I was one of the women chatting about this I think this thread is great. One comment I had mentioned was after my parents passed away 2 years apart I had someone tell me when they are sad they think of me and then they feel better. You know that made me feel really great LOL.

Flatfroggie - I am so sorry your mother said that to you but it gave me a good laugh.

Let's see...a woman who works at my dr's office (who I used to work with), asked me about my son who was with me & then if I was going to have any more kids (this was at my pre-op). I said not after this...I'm having a hysterectomy, to which she replied "Oh, you are SO lucky!". Gee, that's funny...not exactly how I felt about it!

Lots of women who tell me I'm lucky to not have to have a period anymore.

And someone (a guy, which was surprising to know that a guy actually associated HPV with cervical cancer) who asked if I'd be rid of my STD (meaning the HPV) now that my cervix was gone. Ugh.

Here is one for you. I had my hysterectomy on 10/20/2006 and my heart attack 11/10/2006. I heard people say to me you look great you have so much color in you now. I say yeah its my hot flashes. I really love saying it too. I do not hesitate to tell people what I had wrong and what i had done. Sick of it being a female thing (even though it is) Its everyones issue and its about time more is done in research. Like heart disease is the number one killer in female. Well, research us why don't you. Hormones um I think they know more about what testosterone does than estrogen. Sorry bookah212 now I am venting. I guess its these hormones or lack of. JUST KIDDING. Needed a laugh.

I am usually pretty good at the housekeeping thing.....a lady that works with me called and asked me if she could stop by and bring me something. I was thinking maybe a casserole, something I could use. She brought me about 20 magazines she had gotten from neighbors. Then she said and I still dont believe it .........Merry Maids doesn't really charge all that much and your house would look so much better

Just today at lunch the topic of babies came up, and I jokingly said something to the effect of "I'm done with that!" Another teacher (they all know i had a hyst) said "You never know," to which I replied that I don't have all my parts, and the ones I kept have crashed and burned. Good grief.

I am 32 about to be married with no hope of ever having those babies that I had dreamed of all my life. Needless to say, this wasn't a happy occassion regardless of how much pain I had been in prior.

I asked my doctor to put me on a different floor from the new moms and babies not only for me but for my mama who was devistated to not have a grandbaby from me. She convinced me that I would get the best care from that floor, and she was soooo right.

The only problem with the stay was that the thermastat in my room was broken, and the A/C ran constantly. Everyone who came in, nurses and family, said it was too cold. Funny that it never got fixed while I was there.

On my last day a nurse I hadn't seen before came into to take care of my discharge orders. She said, "Oh my! It's so cold in here." I said it had been a problem the whole time, and I was okay since I was leaving. She said, "Oh, well, we'll need to warm it up in here before we can bring you baby." I told her there was no baby because I had had a hysterectomy and she looked as though she wanted to crawl under the bed.

Oh, yeah, before the surgery during pre-op at the hospital, the nurse taking my information told me I needed to take a pregnancy test. She had just asked me the nature of my surgery! She opened a floodgate of tears that I didn't even know I had in me.

I actually feel bad for the people who have offended me with their careless words!

stupid things people say...

There were a few bloopers these past few weeks and thankfully i have forgiven most during my recovery.

But today i went to the local hairdresser for the first time since pre-op. I had called first and explained to my young stylist that I had recently had major surgery and did not want to sit for long. I was also said I was telling her this on the phone because i did not want to discuss it in the middle of the salon. I arrived this morning, sat down and she said loudly, "So, tell me ALL about your surgery, I want to know ALL about it".
I replied frostily that I did not wish to talk about it and then felt the eyes of everyone in there on me. Couldn't wait to get out of there! Not sure I will be going back...

So where is the new little one? (said by the transportation guy who wheeled me from the hospital)
You wont need new panties hun, its not like you are going to gain a lot of weight. (said by hubby when I was looking for support undies)
Hey atleast you dont have to worry about birth control anymore. (said by a mom of my son's classmate)
What do you mean you cant help with the Easter party?! Your surgery will be a month before that! (said by same mom as above)
You are too young to have a hyst. (said by MIL)

Now I get to shove it in their faces that I am finally feeling better than I have in years, LOL. This is a great post. Thanks for letting us vent!!

my boss, who asked me if I was enjoying my vacation. Maybe the next time he's on one of his many vacations he can let someone make an 8" slit in his belly and pull out his you-know-whats. Would that be enjoyable? :burning:
