Get this: as I was BEING PREPPED IN THE SURGERY DEPARTMENT the morning of SURGERY, the NURSE said "how are you feeling? are you nervous?" I said "Not really, I've been preparing myself for a few weeks now for all this, and I'm sure I'll be fine". So she says "Oh, I sure hope you'll be fine, it's MAJOR surgery, not something to shrug off, it's a very very hard surgery". About 2 minutes the doctor came in and asked if I wanted a little something to help relax me.......I said "definitely, yes..getting fairly nervous suddenly."

And that's when I shot him Your Honor.

Well my hubby asked me doesn't a hysterectomy stop hot flashes? Wouldn't you just love to kill him.

I had a manager where I work actually say "I guess we won't have to worry about you getting pregnant" and "now you'll be a hollowed out pumpkin". Apparently he thought this was okay because his wife had a hyst and these are things she's joked about. Somehow that qualified him to "joke" with me on the subject!?!

I've also had more than a couple of women compare this to thier c-sections...and go on in great detail about thier procedures. Maybe it wouldn't bug me so much if 1) it was the same! (which it isn't) 2) my hyst had happened after I had a chance to have kids!!

Man, oh man - good lessons in thinking before engaging the mouth-muscle!!!

People just don't understand. But I think I offend more people at work with my comments then they offend me. Having a hyst doesn't bother me and I'm ok with not being able to get pregnant anymore. I just think some people are uncomfortable and don't know what to say or they relate what other people in their lives have said/done.

I've learned to not take co-workers nasty comments. One lady was listening to me talk to another girl about the $$ she and I spend every 8 wks on a cut and color..."Seems like an awful waste. I spend less than 4 dollars at the drugstore and do my own." Yeah, and I wanted to say that it shows...but I bit my tongue. Instread I said, "It's a nice treat because I deserve to do something nice for myself." She also made a comment about a dress I was wearing about how it made me look like a rail...I said, "No, it makes me look really nice. I look good in it, don't you think?"

the hollowed out pumpkin remark beats gutted like a fish as my dear husband puts it. i have gotten to where i make smart comments back to people. i am starting a new job, feeling better than i have felt in months...so i'd rather be a gutted fish or hollowed out pumpkin and feel this good as to go back to having all my parts and being in pain. that's my story and i'm sticking to it!!

I just beat them to it. One of my coworkers asked if I was going on vacation and I said "No, I'm being gutted like a trout."

Shuts them up real fast.

Anyway, I'm not losing any of my parts, I'm having a really big ugly mole removed. All of me is staying put
