stupid things people say...

I have to admit that I've told nosy/annoying people I was sliced, diced, and carved like a Thanksgiving Turkey...it makes other people really uncomfortable so I'm trying to not say anything. I find these funny for my situation but not everyone will because it can be a traumatic event.

i didn't find them funny at first either, i cried for several days over one of the gutted like a fish remark but as time as passed, i can just ignore most of the remarks and comeback with my own remark. time heals a multitude of issues! hugs...v

I cannot believe people say these things. Totally amazes me. When I tell someone they just ask if I am alright. The only thing stupid I heard was out of my own hubbies mouth. He thought that the hysterectomy would stop the hot flashes. I wanted to smack him upside the head.

Some people are really insensitive or just don't have any tact. (I'd open my mouth and insert foot because I'm guilty of that too but just back from dentist and both sides of my mouth are too numb to open...I'm trying to eat pudding and getting more in my chin and chest than my mouth.)I think the fish comment is totally inappropriate for someone else to say.

I had a co-worker who made a comment last week when I had to have teeth pulled, "I bet your husband's loving that..." you know what's being implied. That does bother me because I've lost 7 back teeth due to ED issues and I'm very selfconscious about that.

i hear that about the teeth also....i had to have complete dentures several years ago due to an accident and i also got the same remarks...people are just so insensitive or maybe they're just so uncomfortable that they make stupid remarks. i know i have become more careful what i say to people...cause my foot usually stays in my mouth all the way up to my knee.

Okay so far Ive heard remarks like this"
Why spend the governments money on a hyst when you could get the vet to do it...
you don't need a hyst, just use a tennis ball and some duct tape (my brother came up with that gem I know he was joking but still...)
and I got got off a yahoo forum for women where this woman wrote a two page diatribe as to why I should never have a hysterectomy to avoid a period or some such stupid thing. If i could have fit my hands through the monitor I would have throttled her a la Homer Simpson.

OK - so I just heard today that my lead was going around telling people that I was missing days during my periods to prove that I needed a hysterectomy. She was also saying that I wanted a hysterectomy because I don't want kids.

Yeah, HMOs just hand these out as a birth control method.

I have several...

"So... you are going from a SUV to a sports car? wink wink"

"oh you are havng a hysterectomy? The hyster is next to the gull bladder right? "

"No more pms huh? What are you going to use as an excuse to be a Please do not override the website censor. now ?"

"Dont worry about not having kids, you can borrow mine as often as you want"

"So are you going to grow a beard and start wearing mens clothes too ??" ( this person thought a hysterectomy was a sex change surgery)

There are more.. but thats all I can remember right now. I dont get upset by this stuff anymore.
