It will get better. :
Jay I don't think my sleep will get any better I've had insomina for about 8 months now. Been on rozerem and valium just to get 3 -4 hrs of sleep. Hopefully This will get better. I've also been diagnosised with depression and adhd. Had a pretty eventful 37th year. All my drs. think the lsh/bso will help greatly. thanks for the words of encouragement and no jokes this time. sorry

Jen - you need laughter! You can bring it to! I've read it!
Ok - then I'll tell a funny story - and true!! My brother and I are 13 years apart - I'm the oldest. He was adopted by my Mom and step-dad (who couldn't have children). We are total opposites! I cannot believe we were raised in the same household! He is a redneck! any joke Jeff Foxworthy has told, somehow has a tie-in with my brother! I love him dearly - anyway, the story... he has three sons (serves him right). The middle child is in second grade, but last year in first grade they were learning the seasons of the year. When called upon in class as to what the four seasons were, my nephew replied "Turkey, deer, and I don't know what comes after that." I swear - true story! Each of the boys have their own dogs that they show and hunt. His dog is a champion in show. Are you laughing? Did I bring a smile?

Ahheck -
Girl - you need to get on this thread more often! In the beginning I was shy about posting anything for the fear of sounding stupid or a whiney butt. See how long that lasted? You can't keep me off of here now! Anytime you need to talk about anything post something! I am always checking the thread unless my DH is on the computer (in the pm.) or I'm napping. Then I check it first chance I get. Even if you don't have any concern to post, just get on and say "Hey - anybody out there? I need to communicate!"

I see you are in my neighboring state. I asked my DH where Park City was - he didn't know. I'm going to look it up and see how far you are from me. I'm close to the state line, south of KC. My DH works in KS, too. I lived in KS for a short time in the late 70's, with my parents. Also, the Jayhawk reference in my username - yea, been to Lawrence a time or two. Big Jayhawk fan.

Happy 2-week hysterversary, all us 3/26 ladies!!!

Good afternoon, ladies. Wow - take a day or 2 off the computer and it takes a while to catch up! Welcome to all the sisters that joined this thread since my last visit. As you know by all the great advice given since you arrived, this is a wonderful site and such a supportive thread of discussion with others at or near our same surgery dates. I've learned/gained so much. Thanks again, to all of you that have helped keep me moving forward...

Well, at 2 weeks, I'm off the percocet completely and only taking the IB600's as needed for pains/aches. I still take the colace and drink my senna tean to keep things running smoothly. Normal things wear me out unbelievably quickly, but I'm still walking each day -- need to walk more. Insomnia is a bear and the "emotional pendulum" seems to be swinging to great extremes lately. I've reverted to valium which helps a lot!

We had a rather upsetting episode with our 13 yo DS on Friday and have been dealing with that since - which explains the break from the computer. In fact, it was that episode that prompted the valium... ugh.

I've found a new passion with all my free time -- COUNTED CROSS STITCH! I never thought I'd find myself sitting on the couch obsessed with such a craft, but I am. It takes the mind off whatever is belaboring me (DS, pain, etc.) because of the concentration it requires to count out the stitches. It is soothing due to it's repetitive nature. You can have a conversation while doing it (unlike reading a book). It keeps me from the dull, boredom of tv. And a beautiful product results. I'll have my "Dolly Mamas" (from Wal-Mart -- check 'em out) as a memento of this part of my life. Cross-stitch, counted or otherwise, is highly recommended during recovery. Enjoy.

Jay -- talk about animal instinct -- our lab/shep mix and 2 kittys, all of whom are typically very devoted to DH, won't leave my side. They sleep at my feet (dog on floor!), follow me around and get in my face when they can sense I'm uncomfortable, upset or in pain. Thank goodness for them...

Hang in there all. Hope our aches and pains are lifted from us and we all find a restful night's sleep, tonight and every night...

At first, I thought the 40's were all about falling apart (just turned 40 in July). Now, I'm looking forward to a decade of freedom. FREEDOM TO WEAR WHITE - both before and after Labor Day! Freedom from anxiety about standing up at a meeting during my 2-days-from-hell-every-month-where-I-bled-to-death and finding myself covered in blood (it happened too many times to count in the last year). Freedom to plan outings with my family and friends without consideration of whether it will be my "time" or not. Freedom from painful intercourse w/ DH (really looking forward to that). Freedom from PMS 3 weeks out of each month (I understand I'll still have it, but only for a day or 2). Freedom to -- well, you get the picture!

Funny story about the seasons -- thanks for sharing. I can relate. I moved from the city (Cincinnati, OH) to the country 6 years ago. I now live in a very remote, rural hunting-obsessed county in the middle of nowhere. The kids here get guns and ATVs at 4 and pride themselves on killing defenseless animals (not my kids!). I think the other 2 seasons are dove and bear. No kidding! We choose to fish. That's as close to hunting as I'll allow.

I agree -- post away! Not everyone will agree or relate to whatever you have to say or ask, but inevitably, you'll find someone to commiserate or advise. And.... if you don't ask, you might miss out on some great input/advice. (And you couldn't be more right about the joy of getting personal comments from others -- and about the misery of waiting for that day -- I think TK was the first to acknowledge me personnally. She's quite a princess!) I also enjoyed spending some of my more bedridden days reading the archives. Enjoy!
