My dr. said since I kept my cervix, I had to have annual pap smears. Check with your dr. at your next visit.

My 16 yr old DD is complaining that i don't listen to hear when she's talking. I can't help if I'm interested in reading this and she's starts talking. She's referring to our website as MYSPACE for old people.

Thank the lord for hystersisters!!!!
Sydney44 - I sometimes think I should re-read the thread just to make sure I didn't miss anything!

Your 16 year old won't even remember that conversation ten years from now. I have a blog and my daughter used to make fun of Blogger as being for old people. Now MySpace is old hat and FaceBook is the new thing, according to her.

I am very thankful for HysterSisters! Who else would understand us???

I like philisophical TK! You go girl! You are an inspiration to other Sisters!

Odd question.. has anyone had cold chills in their incision, literally shivers only on their incision?Distracted: No, not had that symptom! Sounds scarey. Call dr. and let me know what that is!

Jen - thanks. Your explanation makes sense to me!

What would I do without you girls?? EVERYONE is so helpful on this website. I'm blessed to have found it. I'm sorry I didn't join it prior to my surgery! I love this place!!

Allison, how long were you in the hospital? How scary to have kidney problems! Wow! Glad everything is working now. My five month old nephew weighs 17 pounds and I walked with him once for just a bit - boy, did I feel it after that.
Spring is coming...after one more snowstorm, I think.

Jen, yes I read somewhere that we still have to have yearly paps but don't remember the reason why. I am actually glad because I just started seeing this dr. in Jan. and like her so much more than last doc.

Here are my questions: Does anyone else have vaginal bleeding and how long has it lasted? I did have some for a day or so after surgery and then thought it was over with. I came home and probably overdid things a bit because I had bleeding again. So I took it easy yesterday and today (napped quite a bit). I went to the bathroom twice today with no blood. Then the last two times I went to the bathroom I have had blood again. I thought after the TAH/BSO I could throw the pads away! Sorry if it was TMI for anyone, but who else can I ask besides my sisters who have gone through the same thing? So glad I found this site!

I've not had any beyond about the first couple of days, but I know I've seen it mentioned by others in our group. Definitely check in with your doctor.

I have a stupid question! I'm sure I could read about it somewhere but I'm going to bother my Sisters about it! Okay, I had just my uterus removed. Kept cervix and ovaries. Do I still ovulate? And what happens? Because right now would be the time for me to ovulate on my cycle. I wonder if that's why my left side hurts? Sisters??[/QUOTE]

Jayhawk,
My sisterin law had her hysterectomy but they left her ovaries. She says she still has pms and jokingly refers to it as her dry period.

I have not had ONE DROP (TVH - kept ovaries). My doc told me I wouldn't. But I've seen others on here report several weeks with no bleeding and BAM - spotting. So I'm not ruling it out.

Sydney - "dry periods" - that's pretty funny. I was due for my period on 4/1 and that's about when the PMS type symptoms started (cramping, mood swings, etc.). DH called it a "phantom period." I said -- April fools!
