OK, I'm back and no one's here. Jay, I hope you are getting some much needed rest. No ATWT chat today as the VA Tech Convocation is on live now. What a tragedy. I have decided NOT to watch it, as it will (and has already to a degree), become an obsession and I can't afford to get emotionally stressed by anything other than my own reality right now.

Somebody earlier posted that stress/conflict brought on hot flashes, mood swings, etc. -- ABSOLUTELY!!! I've had to find a decorating show.

Chat later....

Judi - I am confused as to when to use heat and when to use ice. I still ice my belly 'cuz that's what feels good, but I haven't tried anything on my sore back yet. I should try heat. Doh!

JayHawk - me too. What is it about the three week mark? I'm more sore today than ever (apart from my ovary pain).

UponWings - laughter is good medicine and you just gave me a good laugh with your description of knocking on the window in the middle of the night. Too funny! Good thing you were able to wake him up, though.

MySkyy - wow! Scary. I've not heard of that particular thing. You should search other threads or do a general search on Google. Make sure to rest!

Too late for me. Obsession kicked in yesterday. Today, I started watching the convocation and cried like a baby. I tried to turn the channel but I couldn't - obsession thing again. Time restraints made me turn it off. I wanted to get on here, post, and take a shower before DK's come home from school.

I did watch the B&B! Wow! What a cliff-hanger! What's going to happen?

Since this is our "chit-chat" thread, I just want to put this out there - any Sisters from Virginia or anyone effected by yesterday's events - my condolences. I think the Gov. of VA represented the State and the VT community very well at the convocation. Awesome speaker.

UponWings~ I have been having hot flashes off and on since the surgery, but last night I was out having dinner with the family and I wanted to rip my clothes off I was so hot, I couldn't cool down, I rolled up my pants under the table and was fanning myself with a menu.

It was in the 50's outside so I had to go out there. I totally understand, It was a horrible feeling. That was by far the worst one I have ever had.

<<<poking my ovaries>>> WAKE UP!

MySkyy - My mother-in-law did that very same thing. She is so concerned about my recovery and having the same thing happen to me that happened to her. She told me she was afraid to move after her second surgery and was very cautious. What a horrible thing to go through and SCAREY! Take care!!

I hate that I am so emotionally intolerant these days as emotional TOLERANCE is typically one of my strengths. You know, the whole "grace under pressure" persona?

I was at the office yesterday for a building committee meeting and the furniture guy was 15 minutes late. I was crawling out of my skin by the time he got there, was in a full hot flash and wasn't the nicest person for the first few minutes of the meeting. I got over it until I got to the new building and found the carpet screw up. I went ballistic there. I don't do that at work. Every time I go to the office or talk to or about work, I have to watch myself and know that I am sooo not ready to return.

The stress and sadness of the VA Tech thing has been all-consuming. Especially considering we live on the Va line and get only Hampton Roads, Va news here. Gov. Tim Kaine is an awesome speaker. And if his political road continues on its current path, he could vie for the presidency one day. He's a strong leader, whether you agree with his politics or not. I'm unaffiliated, so no party pushing here! To be honest, I don't know if he's Rep. or Dem. I just like him. NC's Gov. on the other hand...

ok, off the politics!!!

Even if we didn't get our ATWT fix, we did get B&B. Yes, quite a cliffhanger. I think if Ridge gets shot, he'll have 3 women pining over his near-dead body - Brooke, Taylor and Ashley (and his daughter Pheobe) - and Nick and Rick will get jealous and we won't know for months (while they negotiate Ridge's contract) whether he'll live or die and if he lives, which girl he'll get. He'll choose Taylor, but she'll be pg with Rick's baby and Brooke will be back in Nick's arms. By then, she could fake a good pregnancy, too. Pheobe will return her attention to Rick who will be comforting Ashley. So she'll turn to Shane in prison and all will be right with the world!!!

I've spent the first 40 years of my life totally low maintenance (hair color wise only -- very high maintenance in most other aspects!!!). Now I'm going to have to keep up with this for the rest of my life or wait a couple of months and get the she-crew!!! Not a good look for me. I'll live with it -- what can I compromise financially to cover the increased cost of my new look???? PADS AND TAMPONS AND UNDERWEAR AND SHEETS AND TOILET PAPER AND ETC.... I think I've more than made up for the difference in cost. Whew. Glad I worked that out! Thanks for being here, sis's!!! See you in Recovery Progress!!! Gotta go find out what's ailing Jay!!!

Or you could go to a reputable school and get your color done there... and get your cut and style from your regular person. When Money was tight when I was younger I used to do that.. It was kind of fun, because they have to do a good job, they get graded on it. Plus they use the most up to date techniques which are often times really nice and don't show re-growth as much.

Jenn~ did you ever make it to the store?

Jayhawk~ are you doing any better this afternoon? I too have had those emotional days, I hope yours passes soon.

I did have back pain, but once I got up and started moving around, that worked itself out and I did have about three or four nights where I experienced night sweats. My doctor had told me prior to my surgery to be sure to take stool softeners or a laxative for at least a week after my surgery. I also was not in much pain at all and would only take my percoset at bedtime, just in case I moved a lot at night. I have not even taken any in nearly ten days now. I am on the Climara patch and so far I have not had any emotional issues. Well other than during my first couple days at home by myself and I got a little lonely, but then again, I have never had to be off work like this before and I really missed my interaction with everyone at work. Luckily that has passed and I have been working from home for the past two weeks and my doctor said I could start going in for a few hours a couple of days a week now. I go back for my final post op appt in three weeks, at which time I expect to be fully released and back to 100%. Sisters...My prayers for a comfortable recovery go out to you all. Hugs all around!
