Hi everybody. I have my first post-op appt tomorrow am. I made myself a list of questions and expect it to go well. I am still spotting brown everyday, having difficulty with regular BMs, bladder discomfort, and now (new yesterday) some discomfort with my left side incision. I slept 12 hrs last night (with only a few potty breaks)! I needed it. Even so, I still didn't even brush my teeth (ewww) today. Well, that's all for now folks!

Hugs

OH, the perils of constipation! Despite taking colace regularly and trying to eat high fiber (not as good at that as I should be), I still haven't had a bm without assistance (senna tea or philips m.o.m.). Tonight, I must have burst a hemorrhoid - sorry - - because my bm hurt like crazy - I cried - and there was a lot of blood. Now I can't sit "fully." Kind of listing to the side. I guess I attribute the hemorrhoids to sitting, sitting and more sitting...

Lesson learned -- take care of your bowel function. Keep taking stool softner. Add your special "aid" (mine's senna tea or m.o.m. - others use prunes and fiber wafers - whatever works). Walk, walk, walk. Drink lots of water.

WAPITA! (pun intended)

Hi, hope you are all doing well today. I was 3 weeks post-op Tuesday, and i don't think i have slept even three hours straight without waking up since my hysterectomy. It's driving me crazy. I haven't taken a pain pill in over a week, but am so exhausted, i 'm considering taking one tonight to maybe help me sleep. I know the doctors tell us to take it easy for a reason, and i know that i am overdoing it, and i pay for it every evening, but it is so hard to just sit at home. My hubby works all day, and so do my sisters, so i am stuck at home all by myself, going stir crazy. I haven't been to the doctor since i had my staples removed, but i feel awful. Is it normal to one day feel like you could clean the whole house, and the next be so tired you can't get out of bed? Is there anything that helps with sleep? I tried tylenol pm, and it helped the first night and that was it. I have a four year old, that i have to keep up with during the day, so naps are not really possible. It's weird though, i think i could sleep better during the day than i do at night. Anyway I hope you are all well, and any suggestions are much appreciated.

Colls I don't think I can bring anyone out of a funk tonight. I know that black cloud was around for a reason.. A mothers intutition. Not on the topic to post here so we won't go into it. Jay I hope nothing hampers your recovery and you don't have to go back to the castle as the 2nd trip you don't feel like such the princess you one were. I think trips back stink and I think they pretty much think you are a baby. At least that was my experience when I had my big 3 day stay the second time. I'll be thinking of you.

I am totally sympathetic to your situation, Jen, and have left you a story of my own recent family dysfunction to let you know you're not alone. Check it out.

Let's hope tomorrow's a much better day!

On the sleep topic again I see. I have tried everything. I have had insomnia for around 8 months so I am pretty much used to running on 6 -12 hours of sleep a week. When My eyes get heavy I am out like a light but can only stay asleep for no more than an hour at a time. As I mentioned before they even had a hard time putting me under for surgery. Took them 1.45 hours. I have been on sleep meds and valium for around 8 months. I know stress has a lot to do with sleep so if you ladies are worrying about your recovery process this may be keeping you up. Sorry I have no Input on what to do.

Phsically I felt great today. I even mowed the yard with I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONE DOING. I am paying for it tonight. I have started bleeding again. So I guess I was not ready for that. but at least my yard looks good.

Emotionally I am horrible. But being a woman and a mother we all know that life goes on no matter how we feel or how much we cry. The problems of life are still there wait to show their ugly face.

I hope everyone can get the rest they need and besides We've almost made it through yet another week.

Hi all,

My surgery was a sucess for the most part, On 3/29, I had my uterus and cervix removed and had little pain after surgery. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days for a low grade fever. After 2 1/2 weeks, I am still experiencing numbness in my left leg.

I know how you feel-one day great and the next no energy whatsoever (me today!) it must be the healing process..

As for your lack of sleep, it must be hard considering you have a small one at home-I have a teenager so she's at school all day. I wish I could offer suggestions but I'm having a hard time sleeping too, even though medication I'm on for a different condition normally makes me sleep through the night but for some reason it isn't now.

I guess just try and rest when you can, even if it's just a catnap and know that eventually our bodies will allow us more sleep as we heal!

Take care!

Wow~ It seems that many of us are experiencing the same thing. Don't they say two steps forward one step back?

I will go out for a bit then the next day, be wiped out and in pain.

There are so many people with things I want to respond to but can't remember who is who anymore... so,

If you still have pain pills and they help, you are not being a wimp to take them. I too have never been the one to take all my pain pills for anything. My Dr. told me, I gave them to you for a reason, if you are in pain, you are not going to heal well, it raises your blood pressure and all sorts of other physical things. If it helps take the edge of so you can sleep that is telling you you need it!

To those that are sleepless, I am so sorry, I have been sleeping through the night except to pee or take meds. Last night I seemed to wake up in time to take my med's right on time... Hmm I suppose I needed them... I don't really have any suggestions.... Aromatherapy, something with lavendar?

On the swelly belly front~ I am starting to get my waist back! I still have the dreaded shelf and swelly belly and yes it is worse at night, but in the morning when I wake up, I can see my waist! WooHOO, now if it would just stay that way!

This morning, I seem to be doing okay, yesterday was my down day after a busy day on tuesday. Hubby is going to take me to lunch up the street today, even though it's cold and rainy! I just need a change of scenery! I won't be sitting in those horribly uncomfortable chairs at church for 3 hours so I should be okay today....
