bulge from rectum

Hi. I was just wondering if any of you ladies have had a "bulge" from your recum into your vagina after your hysterectomy. I have this and the gynae. told me to be patient. It happened at 5 weeks out. I am now at 7 weeks out and I am wondering if this will ever get better, I am trying to do everything right, and if it doesn't get better, what would be a good time frame to go in and have the op. to get a posterior repair? Any help would be appreciated as I think about this all day. I really don't want more surgery already.
Thanks.

Anne,

If you've developed a rectocele, you may want to seek out a urogynecologist. They specialize in pelvic floor repairs.

I had a uterine prolapse, and at my examination, it was found I had a rectocele and cystocele as well, even though it was the uterine prolapse that "got my attention."

From what I've read, prolapses post hysterectomy are not that uncommon. If I was consider more surgery (to correct the rectocele)...I'd probably want to make sure everything was a-okay in the bladder area too. That's why a urogyn is so valuable, they check all areas to make sure everything is where it should be.

Hope you get some answers.

I would get this checked out- it does sound as tho you have developed a rectocele. No its not uncommon after a hyst, I can fully unerstand not wanting more syrgery, however that IS one way to correct it. I would just talk to the Dr about it & see what all your options are & take into concideration how bothersome it is for you. That will likely determine much of how you procede & any potential Txs you get.
