[quote=karenlp65]Day 6 and I got the staples out. It feels so much better to have them gone. My Dr. also okayed me to drive as soon as I feel up to it. I'll wait another few days.

Wow! I got my staples out yesterday, (day 9 for me).
My doc. said I really shouldn't drive until the 2 wk. mark at the soonest. Something about using the muscles (cut) when you brake. So yesterday I drove to the bus stop, which is only 2 blocks, to pick up my son. Yikes!
I really felt it. Today I walked...felt better!

It will be one week for me tomorrow! I go tomorrow to get stitches out. It looks like it is gonna hurt bad. My Mom says I look like I'm sewn together like an old feed bag! ROFL! DH says to make sure I take pain meds before I go in. Dr. says it won't hurt. Will tell you tomorrow! I feel good most of the time. Emptying bladder is somewhat painful, not sure how to describe it. It is like is spasms after I empty it. But can now go all night without getting up so I must be gainging capacity as the days go by. I hope I get some path info tomorrow. Sleeping is weird, I don't feel like I get real tired so I don't feel like I get rested, if that makes any sense to anyone. I feel like I lay down and get up, don't really remember feeling asleep. Very strange feeling for me. I also have very bad right shoulder pain. Don't know if it is from the OR the way I was strapped down or if I have used it too much to help me get up and down. Hope it goes away soon though. All in all this has not been bad. I have had periods worse than this. I am on the Climara patch and I do wonder what lies ahead for me in the emotional department. I guess I will have to deal with that when I get there!

I enjoy reading about everyone else's recovery! It's so nice to know others are going through the exact same thing.

I had about 25 staples. A couple pinched a bit but most I hardly felt. I didn't take pain med. and didn't need any. Good luck.

I had my LSH on April 6th and it went as planned except for the doctor having to take a bit more time because he found endometriosis. I feel pretty good when I get up in the morning and as the day goes on I get really tired and need to rest. My family has been wonderful, but I am not the type of person to sit around and be waited on, it is definitley a change in pace for me. I had a BM the 3rd day home and again today, I know..TMI...sorry, but I was really scared about having one, but it was ok. Milk of Magnesia does wonders! The only complaint I have is nausea...every day since I have been home it has hit me..please end soon!!!!!

Ok, going to rest. I hope all of the other ladies are doing well. Take it easy and rest, rest, rest.

Hi! I had my Total Laproscopic Hysterectomy with posterier repair and perineoplasty on April 2nd. All went well and went home on April 3rd. I got the pathology report and they found cervical cancer (which was a huge surprise since I had an endometrial and cervical biopsy that both came back okay) but they are certain that they got all of it. It apparently was a very small area that was completely contained. I don't know yet if I will have any further treatment for that, but figure that will be covered at my 4 week follow-up.
My surgery was done with the new daVinci computer assisting the doctor. My recovery has been a breeze!
God bless all the other women that are recovering!

I thought I was well prepared due to reading the forums...so I was so glad I bought a lot of gas-x before surgery. I had my TAH-BSO on 4/4. I was in until Saturday night.
Since I have no adrenals, they had to give me stress dose steroids and make sure I was ok during the surgery. They did find adhesions in my abdomen, as well as endometriosis, the expected cysts, fibroids and gosh... can't wait to read that report. Surgery was 3 hours long. He originally said he was going to do a horizontal cut but at the last minute, decided to do the vertical cut. So I have a lot of staples that my hubby says looks like a zipper and when I complain about the pressure and pain, he jokingly says why can't I just open the zipper to let off some of the pressure? I won't get the staples out until next week since I heal so slowly.
I feel like I have to go pee every 3 hours! And the gas is so bad that I can hardly eat anything. When does that go away? I had to be re-cathetered in the hospital as my bladder did not work the first time they took it out.
The pain was much more than I expected and more than my last abdominal surgery... I am using dried apricots to keep me going as naturally as I can but still feel so uncomfortable...have only gone once so far... ugh.

1 week post op and feeling like this recovery thing is going to be forever!!! Had staples out last Mon, and trying to concentrate on how much better I feel than I did at 1 day post op. Everything seems to be going ok otherwise. Most pain comes from full bladder/going to the bathroom. Good luck to everyone for a speedy recovery.

I got my stitches out today, hurt very little, thank goodness! Had never seen this type of closure but glad it is out. Pathology revealed NO CANCER! PTL! Was waiting for that last little bit of info, now I can focus on feeling better. Did have lots of endo and adeno and bladder repair is taking awhile to feel settled back down but am feeling pretty good. I am going to take a nap now, I can't believe a trip to Dr. and small grocery trip has worn me out. I still feel pretty foggy at 1 week post op. At times I feel clear headed but then when I try to remember something that happened yesterday or the day before I feel like it's a blur, and I'm not even taking anymore pain meds. I hope that goes away soon. Also got the okay to drive but won't chance that until my head clears.

so far so good

I had a vaginal hysterectomy on Monday April 2 and everything went very well. I had alot of pain the first day and night but was given pain medication to keep me comfortable. The Dr. had said I would go home on Tues. and I was very nervous but by the time I was discharged I felt it was the right thing to do. I have been sleeping well at night, eating like a queen, thanks to friends and family and obeying Drs. orders. I am so thankful for this website and all of the useful information and input from everyone. Thank you so much.
