hi... it's day 7 for me... yup...surgery was one week ago this morning. I still have the staples and they are so annoying..each side of my abdomin hurts when I move. pain is minimal and I use Motrin and I also have a pain pill. Being a large woman does not make this easy. Each day i have a period of time where i feel exhausted, have achiness and chills and just lay and rest for a bit. Then I feel ok.

Nitroxdiver, hang in there. I am praying for you during this time. And everyone else... good to hear positive results.

blessings to all!!!

TVH w/BSO Total Retro, Cysto

Hi, Its day 7 for me. Other than that Catheter thing I've been doing really well. I had a TVH and had both the Retrocele and endocele repairs and they did the sling procedure on my bladder. A few stitches which all dissolve on their own. All the punctures itch! Especially where I sit. My visit to the Castle lasted 31 hours. Everythere was considerate and caring.
Now that that Catheter is gone I'm up and around a good bit. According to my DH --a little to much, He is threatening to hide the car keys.

Day 8 Back to school for 1 hour

Day 8 for me and I have the Doctor's okay to go to school for an hour and then come home and rest. I need to hand in some work and pick up notes for the final exams. Finals start next week but I can postpone mine if I need to. I'm feeling okay except I picked up a cold (nurses had it at the hospital). I'm hoping it doesn't amount to much. Sneezing is not nice! Ouch!
Have a great day everyone.

Day 9 Post OP TAH

Well I am getting a little stir crazy but everytime I feel like taking a ride to my shop and sitting up there for an hour i back down and stay home. It's just to much still. The steri strips have come off my approximately 6 inch incision and it looks good except for a couple of spots. Everything is numb to the touch and that's just weird. The drama that is my family has calmed down so that has helped. I am still in some pain that is right in the front of my gut and will not go away with Darvocet or Ibuprofen. I had to revert to the hydrocodone to take care of that one, but it makes me loopy and I do not like that. It hurts to get up and I am tired of that. I have my two week followup on Monday. My African Grey Parrot has been a constant source of entertainment this week. Thank goodness he is here!

On The Road Again!

I'm finally permitted to come downstairs ...(and post ) after 1 week stuck in my tower! lol

TAH no complications. Doc said I have beautiful ovaries and path reports cancer "contained"!

So I'm on the road again - was able to take a short car ride to the grocery----free at last! lol

I'm so excited to have this done and be on the road to recovery!
Blessings to all my sisters.

1 week post-op and I'm feeling pretty good! I drove my oldest daughter to school this morning and picked her up this afternoon. Yay!

My SAH was scheduled for 1 hour, but took 2. My doc says I did great and only lost about 2 ounces of blood. I got to keep both ovaries and he found no adhesions or endo, so he thinks all my pain was caused by the adeno and my uterus laying back against my left ovary. Hmm.

Anyway, the worst pain was in the recovery room, but they quickly got that under control and wheeled me to my room. I got my catheter out Saturday morning and my moon boots were off by lunch. I finished my morphine syringe around then and they switched me to Percocet. At that time I got to take off the oxygen tube and they took out my iv - I was free! They released me after lunch on Sunday.

I had my first bm on Tuesday morning, right before we left for my appointment to have the staples out. I felt SO much better after that! After the appointment, we wound up running errands all day and by the time we got home, I was wiped out.

Anyway, I feel pretty good, but I'll be glad when the swelling and tenderness on my belly goes away.

The Show Must Go On

One week here. The old saying "Your Mileage May Vary" was never truer than with this surgery. My LAVH/BSO has thus far proved to be a mild inconvenience. Wednesday afternoon at 2, I called my doctor and told him I was bustin' out of this joint. After a couple of questions and cautions, he told to "Go, then!"
You see, I'm a high school drama teacher. Wednesday was final dress rehearsal of our spring musical. I drove myself to school, got lots of hugs (especially from my fellow arts teachers, who had to step in for me), and sat with my headphones in the house and watched the run. I felt great. Went home at 9 and slept way better than I would have if I hadn't been there.
Opening night was Thursday; we're a hit. Last night the house was twice as big, and the kids are flying high!!! Me too. I didn't miss a minute of it.
Lucky me. No aches, no pains, no spotting, no fever, no sweat. My post-op appointment is the 18th.

Day 12 and finally drove today! It felt great to have my freedom back! I feel amazing! I am having discomfort from the posterier repair and perineoplasty, but not much from the TLH. I think that my estrogen patch is a little too low a dose because I am having mild hot flashes, but not enough to complain about. It may take a while to adjust, especially since they were so out of whack before surgery. I have not had any fits of crankiness, so I am very pleased about that. God bless all of you and good luck on your recoveries!

Post Op Day 11 TAH

Well it's Day 11, hard to believe it has gone by this quickly! My incision is healing nicely. I had some stabbing pains today on my right side, but attributed it to healing. I am still on pain meds. It keeps me comfortable so I can rest otherwise I am all over the place looking for a position to rest in. I am moving around a bit more and walking helps. I get a little tired and depressed but it goes away almost as quickly as it comes. I have lost a little weight and I am looking forward to being able to sleep on my side and stomach soon.

Waiting for the phone to ring

How is everyone doing? Physically I am doing great. I never expected to feel so good at 12 days post op. My Doctor went on holiday after doing my hyster and is back today. I was told to call and make an appointment for 5-6 weeks post op. I did this and asked about my pathology report. The secretary told me it is on the Doctor's desk and I will get a call in the next day or two. I am beside myself with anxiety and jump every time the phone rings. I have been told that fibroids are usually benign so I should not be so upset. Usually I would deal with this anxiety with some physical exersice but I course I can't do that right now. I may have to break down and take some Ativan! Thanks for reading.
