2 wk. follow up. Any words of wisdom??

I go in for my 2 week follow up this a.m.

I'm wondering what to expect and if there are any specific questions I should remember to ask the dr.?

Do I tell him how dang tired I am all of the time....or is it just something we all go thru and I need to deal with it the best I can??

I'd really love to get released back into the "real world" or at least the world I knew pre-op, and feel like I'm kind of ready........but I don't know for sure.

While my job is not so much "physical", it's absolutely draining to me mentally, under the best of circumstances.

2 wk. follow up. Any words of wisdom??

Hi there,
I remember being really worried about my 2 week apt.
I had to give some urine in a cup and the doc gave me a full internal which wasn't any were near as bad as I thought it was going to be but then I had abdominal not vaginal so things may be different for you as to what they do.
But over all it wasn't too bad. The worse part was having to travel nearly 2 hours each way.
I did ask my doc for a blood test to check my blood level as I was so exhausted all the time. She did and my level was low but normal for having a hysterectomy so that put my mind at rest.
It was good to have my doc tell me that I was healing well.
Good Luck

2 wk follow up

My doctor did not do a pelvic exam, he just looked at my incision (I had a TAH) and asked some general questions. He "released" me to drive at that time, but I didn't feel comfortable behind the wheel until about 2 1/2 weeks.

Mine is today.
I want to know

How many stitches
When are they completely dissolved
Were any new fibroids forming
Where were the 2 "gumball size" ones that caused me to opt for a hyst located at (my back pain is gone, so I have a guess)
Lifting restrictions
About the pulling sensation (still a little painful) when urinating

I am eager for her to look at my incision.
It has gotten A LOT better but still, slow going.

My appointment is at 10:15am
Need to leave in about 15 min since I need to get gas.
Good luck Mz.V!

Home now.

It went about as I expected. He did not do a pelvic exam, which didn't surprise me. I had assumed when he said "absolutely nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks", he meant himself too, otherwise he would have had some 'splainin' to do to DH!!

He said I am progressing normally in the recovery process.

I feel like I asked all of the right questions, except one, which I'll get into in a moment. I got the answers I needed to put my mind at ease.......so that's all good.

BUT

When I asked about work, he pretty much stopped me in my tracks with:

"At two weeks, don't even ask!"

I should have asked him when it was ok to ask, huh? I wish I would have thought of that right then and there. I'll give it a few more days and give him a call!

I'm a little disappointed, but I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best the next time I talk to him.

Mercey:
I hope everything went good with your visit!

uktrifle & latergator:
thanks for your responses!
