I am doing quite well. Had the hysterectomy on Tuesday Morning with the Da Vinci Robot. The insision that was use for the most tool hurt the most. Just weak stomach muscles type pain. Hard to get from laying to sitting, but one I am up, moving about is not to bad. Ibuprofan 800mg and Davocet every 6 hours.

Back from the Castle!

Well after the hospital swore they were only going to keep me 5 hours recovery for my LAVH/BSO - the recovery floor nurses and Dr. laughed and said who told you that? I stayed overnight after my 11 am surgery. Woke up about 1:30 pm - did pretty well until 7 pm - then had a "gas attack" - horrible sharp pain under ribs - but got that under control pretty quickly with delaudid. Dr. had not ordered my regular meds (diabetic, lipitor, paxil for night) so had to get that done - but otherwise uneventful evening. My night nurse was AWESOME. Would not let me tolerate any more pain than necessary - kept up with my every need. I loved her. My biggest complication was that I had entered the castle with a migraine that started the night before surgery (so not just caffeine-related, though having no coffee didn't help). Every time the pain meds ran low - not only did other pain exist - but migraine in full force. I was nautious and had vertigo so nurse postponed my first standing up until about 6am. My excellent nurse gave me double doses of delaudid and that took care of it - brought me tea - and in the am hubby brought me coffee from dunkin donuts across street. I had planned on sending hubby home (we live an hour away and he had to teach today) - but when I had the gas crisis last evening I was afraid to let him go - he stayed overnight. Once I stood up at 6am I felt a little better gas-wise - took out catheter around 6:30 - I had pottied enough by 7am to please everyone! 8 am doctor came in and released me . . . and here I am. Percoset 1-2 every 4 hours. So far, I need it. Very sleepy. Wrote a couple of e-mails from bed. Took a couple of calls - and my day's over! Hope all the other April 11 gals did as well as I.

Blessings ,

Also - realized last night that I had no HRT so far at all - is that normal? I haven't had any hot flashes - just chills! Today I feel like I was hit by a truck - my neck/back/legs/ribs - all sore - taking my meds, drinking water, walking a little, and thanking God it's over! Thanks for the encouragement of this board!

I'm doing well after my procedure on Monday. Dr. removed multiple fibroids and removed excess skin and fat in lower adbomin. He gave my a belly binder which is wonderful for support and helping me stand upright. Drains will be removed on Monday and Dr. says that everything looks good.

Recovery from my LAVH 4/11

I had my LAVH on 4/11. My Doc (Please don't mention doctor's names per website guidelines) was already running behind, but that is what I get for having a GREAT doc. I was in pre-op for about an hour longer than expected. I don't know why, but I have a great sense of peace come over me. I actually took a nap since I didn't get much sleep the night before. The nurses came in and got me all set up with the IV and vitals and came back to WAKE ME UP to give me my first sedatitve. ha. The doc came in to take me away and away we went. I never cried. And for being known for crying, I was very schocked. I was shooting the time with the Anesthesiologists as they got me on the surgery table and whatnot. Then lala time. It took the doc more time than the 1 1/2 hours expected because she found Endometriosis behind my uterus. great. She had to do additional burning the E off of other organs that had been affected.

I woke up in the room (I don't even remember the recovery room). I was doped up and nauseated for the first 12 hours. At that time, I hadn't eaten in over 30 hours. the Potassium Cloride IV was really making me sick. They gave me Demeral... bah. by 4/12 at 3pm I was able to stop the pain medication altogether and was able to coax the nurses to disconnect the IV. by 4:30 I was able to keep solid foods down and keep the pain away with Tylenol. 6PM I was out of the hospital and at home.

It's 4/13 and it's the LUCKIEST DAY for me. I haven't even needed the Tylenol! I have kept down sliced peaches in a can, vegetable soup, water water water and oh yes-chocolate.

I'm still waiting for my first BM, but I'm passing gas just fine (much to my embarrassment). I believe by Thursday (My Post-Op visit) she will be very surprised at my progress. She said that she has some rather interesting pics from the surgery that she is going to show me. Oh goodie, I will make sure I don't eat before hand. ha!

It's all over!

Had my LAVH April 10th and came home yesterday, April 12th. Am very sore and having trouble passing gas. Peeing ok although it seems to come in fits and starts. Doc said he saw what he was expecting, from my previous endometrial ablation I was refluxing menstrual biood backwards into my abdomen and fallopian tubes. Now there will be no more pain anymore! Kept both ovaries so was really happy about that. It was a good stay in hospital, staff was good. I am surprised how sore I am at times. Hardly any flow. Just taking Tylenol #3 for pain when needed, which has been just about every 4 hours. Will be glad when bowels start to work.!!
Happy Recovery to you all!

TAH on Tuesday 3 p.m. Morphine pump a blessing although I was afraid to have a med like that (I have a fear of pain meds, bad reaction once). Sore, tired, my butt hurts from sitting. Gas slow to come out, it caused me to be in hospital extra day. I can only walk for short periods of time, torn meniscus in knee but TAH took priority over knee surgery. Gas x not a big help so far. Hosp staff left a bit to be desired, two were good, the rest you could keep. Not much of an appetite, staying with lite choices higher protein for healing. SO glad to be home where I am actually being cared for withou feeling like a "bother".

Hi, I had my hyster and front and back end repair yesterday.
so far, so good. I haven't moved around much yet but they said I would be walking soonl I am up reading this because they come in to do vitals, etc......and I can't go back to sleep. I realize however that this is necc.

From what I'm reading, today might be harder? :Less pain meds, packing comes out, walking and GAS

The only thing bothering me again is having to "beg" for pain meds. I just don't get it!

But to all of you hyster sisters out there. Peace and Joy!

I will say other than the blood ordeal I feel much better then I tought I would. will type more later, back to bed for me now.
