April 17

Home yesterday after lunch. I have a catheter for a week due to anterior repair, slightly annoying, but ok. I am a little nauseous, too. I had 3 large & lots of little fibroids (10 week pregnancy) a few adhesions from previous csection and cystocele. Uterus somewhat dropped, too. Surgery was 3 hours. Back pain in recovery was rough, but I have a herniated disk. It was under control pretty quickly. No exterior incisions, just vaginal. It's amazing that my surgeon could do all that vaginally. I'm pretty tired, so I'll go now. Thanks for all your support

Came home yesterday - don't remeber much of Monday or Tuesday. Pre-op diagnosis was Complex right adnexal mass and post op diagnosis endometriosis (stage four). Addominal supracervical hysterectomy and right salpingo-oophorectomy. Only have inscisional pain and cannot believe the pain that I don't have and didn't know I was living with until now that it is gone. Started on Lupron in the hospital. Will be reading up more on Lupron and Endo when my attention span is a bit longer. Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences!

April 17 Surgery

Actually, I am feeling fine.

Surgery was April 17 at noon. Surgery took 2 hours and 15 mnutes and Doc says it took a bit longer than normal because the tumors were giving him a hard time. Uterus was about catelope size. I was in recovery for 2 hours...guess I was sick a bit..they gave me the drug where one forgets being sick. I drank TONS of liquids but couldn't pee...so, at 7:15 pm I finally gave in to being cathed and went home with the infamous pee bag. Doctor called to check on me about 9 pm and said that was normal considering all the roughing about the genital area had to undergo with a LAVH. I have had 2 c-section births and that is why he decided to go with the LAVH. I just have 3 tiny incisions that don't bother me a bit. It is just that pee bag and those horrible gas bubbles that float up into my neck and shoulder area that have been any sort of nuisance. Well, shoulder and neck pain has been beyond nuisance...incredible pain. But, day 2 and it seems to be lessening. Have walked just a bit and watched lots of movies. No discharge at all....and, the pee bag was removed the morning after so things are better there.

Hyster Sister

My surgery was on Monday and I came home Tuesday night. Everything was done vaginally, so no incisions, thank goodness. The doctor left my ovaries, I had a rough night at the hospital on Monday. The anestesia made me so sick that they gave me a shot to ease the nausea. I was on a constant morphine drip for pain. They watched me closely and of course while the morphine knocked me out , the nurses proceeded to wake me every hour. Then is was time for that first walk to the bathroom at 4am. I almost passed out and had to sit for 20 minutes on the toilet before I could walk back to bed just to get the blood flowing again. Felt much better on Tuesday after I was able to eat.

My doctor released me Tuesday evening and I have felt more comfortable in my own bed. Felt good yesterday, but overdid it. It is now Thursday and I am very sore and staying in bed as much as possible...with of course my short walks around the upstairs of my house.

I have to keep telling myself that this is a long road to recovery!

I am greatful for this website and the encouragement from others.

Came home today, mine was on the 16th. Ouch I hurt Doc went in and found 2 fibroids the size of melons...we thought there was only 1, scar tissue from a different surgery and my intestine was stuck to my uterus....5 hours in surgery I have a bunch of staples. But I am walking a lot, drinking lots of water. Can't wait until I can lay on my side again

Oops -- posted my own thread earlier instead of replying to this one. Guess that means the pain meds are working on some level! Feeling pretty good today (surgery on 4/17 - TAH/BSO/TVT) and am sitting here writing Thank You notes so that I can keep on top of them. Learned my lesson yesterday to pace myself and not do "too much" because I paid for it at the end of the day. Truly resting seems to be my biggest challenge.

LSH 4/18, home 4/19. I think this has been the easiest surgery I have ever had! Never had pain above 0. Had them stop pain medicine at 9 pm as it was making me sick. Never have needed any medication. I know someone has tiptoed through my "innards" but it really is not painful in the least. I am so glad I did this.

SAH (kept ovaries) 4/16. Home on 4/18, Wednesday. My biggest problem on 4/18 was gas pain. Simethicone drops and a colace did the trick and a b.m. at 9:30pm had me feeling much better. I hope this isn't too many details for you!! I'm up walking around for a couple of hours followed by bed rest for a couple of hours. The longer I'm on my feet, the more swollen and uncomfortable my belly feels. I really wasn't expecting this muffin top above my horizontal incision!! What a surprise...ok, back to bed for me. I've been up long enough. Take care everyone - I wish you all a speedy recovery!

Had my TAH on April 17th. Dr said uterus was swung over to the left and attached to the abdominal wall by lots of scar tissue from previous c-sections. It was also adhered to my bladder. My uterus was so large it took up my whole abdominal cavity. Had multiple fibroids in uterus.Drained a cyst on Rt ovary too. I have 22 staples..got out of the hospital yesterday. Thought I was "good" but when I got home, in LOTS of pain. My chronic back problems (Facet Joint Syndrome/SI Joint Disorder) have made this more complicated. Can't seem to find a comfortable position. LOTS of gas and bloating has made the pain more painful. Been taking Gas-X, Pepcid, drinking lots of water and apple juice, walking, etc... I have passed gas (of course, had to before leaving hospital) but feels like more gas is just "hanging out" in my tummy. I am taking it easy on foods...jello, juices, soups, hot tea, etc.. While in hospital, was on pain pump, then Percocet (2 every 4 hours for pain). Dr sent me home with Rx for 20 Percocet to take 1-2 every 4 hours for pain. I am afraid to take 2 at a time because I am afraid I am going to run out before I see him for staple removal on Monday. However, 1 does not cut it at times. Been taking Motrin in between as dr instructed, as needed. With the weekend here, I am so scared I am going to run out and not have any pain relief. If I do run out on the weekend, do you think my dr can be contacted just in case I need a refill? Anyone experienced this? I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to take too much and run out. HELP!
