9 days post-op and doing pretty good. It was a beautiful day so I went on an afternoon outing with DH and kids. Went to a b-day party. Then it was to McDs and Walmart Supercenter. After all that I started feeling pretty crampy and pooped out. But I was pleased I was able to do so much! I still get gas pains and need stool softeners to help my BM. My spotting has finally all stopped and still no sign of the big M yet (menopause). I've been eating up a storm since the day I left the hospital. On the way home we stopped at Applebee's and I had a burger (which I never eat there) and fries. I think I'm eating a lot of comfort food. When they discharged me they never gave any dietary concerns at all. Was I suppose to not eat certain things for a while? I've been eating anything and everything (especially ice cream).

As soon as I'm more healed up, I know I'm going to have to diet. Everyone keeps telling me menopause causes all this weight gain. Maybe I'll get real lucky and menopause will never come (ha, ha!!)Everyone keep smili'

Recovery Progress Report Day 9 post op

Wow, day nine feels great! I spent the most part of the day completely ache free and outside in my back yard. I was able to spray my entire deck down (the hose can't weigh more than 10lbs) had lunch with my sister and played with the dogs. DH is glued to TV for NFL Draft day. It was a beautiful day but I am worn out now and hope I can stay awake for the movie we rented. If this is a sign of how I'll feel from now out; it's going to be difficult to remember that I'm recovering from major surgery. I hope you all feel great today and are recovering quickly as well.
Till tomorrow....

Hey everyone - day 9 seems to be the magic number. Had a TVH on the 19th and am finally feeling semi-human. Went to Costco today and had my dear old Dad push the cart and pick stuff up for me I get crampy and slightly sore "down low" when I am tired. I too am experiencing a big jump in libido. Maybe it's the relief of knowing surgery is over. I was also on birth control pills for 8 weeks before surgery that made me feel terrible. So glad for this group!!

13 days Post-OP

Well it's day 13 for me and I felt great yesterday. Sun was shining and temps were in the 70's and I could not resist being outside. I was able to go to a 2 hour workshop with my DH for our internet business and then he took me out to lunch. It was really the first time I have been out and about since I came home from hospital. We also took a long walk with our dogs. He held their leashes of course.

I know what you all mean by libido....wow....looking at my DH in a different way!!! Ladies...there are always things you can do...without doing the big "I".

Although sore today from overdoing it a bit yesterday....staying close to the couch today for some rest.....but will take another walk later to enjoy the gorgeous spring day outside.

For all of you still struggling with recovery....keep the faith...each day seems to get better and better!

Hi ladies, well today is day 12 for me. I am sleeping at night which is a blessing but still needing percocet for pain in the evenings. I am at my best in the morning and by early evening the menstral pains come on. I really hate that I have to take a pain pill. It still hurts like crazy to pee and if I don't take MOM I don't have bowel movements. I truly did not think it was going to be this hard of a recovery. I just want to feel better. Going on walks and folding laundry gets real old. If I bend to much my GERD comes on in full force so making dinner or getting something from the fridge puts me over the top. Honestly when will the bleeding, burning pee, and pain stop? I am beginning to think I need to go back to the doctor for another pee test. Anyone else out their having these problems? I pray you are not. Take Care

Well it is day 9 post-op. I think for the most part I am doing pretty well. Had a bad gas bubble today which I needed to take a phazyme for. It is slowly working its way out. Am driving since yesterday which makes me very happy. I still have some spotting and low back/tailbone pain. It doesnt hurt when I pee but I have to go more often. You are supposed to drink alot but that doesnt help in that dept, just makes me have to go more often. I am going back to work tomorrow for a few hours. I need to get out of this house.

Tinkbell, I know how you feel. You just want things to get back to normal. I try not to let it get to me. I know each day, each week it will get easier. Hang in there. We are all here for you.

Well it's 10 day post op, I think....... I'm doing good but having the opposite problem on the pooping. Guess since I also underwent a colostomy closure I go constantly. My hiney is so sore. I also have pretty much what everyone else complains about on their bladder. I feel as though it is full again right after peeing. I guess it's like everyone talks about, it has to be maybe bladder spasms, things are shifting around, and I'm sure I'm swollen. I look forward to the day that I feel normal "down" in that area. Other than that, I feel great. No pain but I still cannot sleep on either of my sides and I am a side sleeper. Last night was the first full night I have had that I didn't get up for a couple of hours and then go back to bed and try to sleep the rest of the night.

I hope everyone is making a good recovery and to those who are still having problems, those problems will come to an end soon.

Best wishes to all.....

Thanks everyone, it is sure nice to have you all to chat with. I live in a house full of boys. They are all wondeful but this isn't something I want to talk to them about. I am thankful you are all out there for me.
My bladder doesn't feel full but when I go it hurts clear up in my back. I know this will pass but, it is hard to not think that there is something seriously wrong. How can your bladder be so affected with a cath for one night. Plus, why doesn't your doctor warn you about this? Seems like there is a lot unsaid prior to a H. It would have been a heck of a lot easier knowing about this site preop. Heck like I said my surgeon said I would be grocery shopping by day three. Thankfully my doctor informed me different. Well I hope you all are having a restful day.
Lovetoshop67 - I understand the wanting to get out. Make sure your listening to your body and don't over do... TexasJewel - have you tried using the flushable wipes, I had two thombros hemroids prior to surgery that had to be removed and my only saving grace was the flushables that had witch hazel in them. I feel for you!
Take care......

I had a cath for a week due to anterior repair. It took a few days to stop being painful to tinkle, but it still feels different. Sounds like some of us are struggling and some doing better. Guess I will try to be grateful that it hasn't been harder. Thanks for being there--
