Hi Nclsh, rest assured I think none of us want another surgery. I don't. I had uterus and cervix removed, ovaries are still in and I did have that period kind of like bleed and freaked out, rang Dr and was reassured and it settled down within 2 days (thats my body), all our bodies are different and who knows how they'll turn out. I'm only 31, have had surgeries elsewhere on my body and should be used to it, yet I still cried when they wheeled me off to surgery when I had it 3 weeks ago.

Have no regrets. I'm told and just have to wait, but we will enjoy it in time to come. (I'm not usually a patient persom but have no choice at the moment)

3 weeks today. Doctor says I am cleared for exercise so I have started the treadmill, stomach exercises, stretching and light weight-lifting. It is actually helping improve my general energy levels.

I am sleeping well.

The LSH is the way to go IF you can go that way!

Well I have just had the lab results back today and it is confirmed that I had a cancerous tumour of the lining and womb. On the plus side it did not involve any blood vessels and it was 50% thickness of the uterus. They have refered me to oncologist forradium treatment. I am now going to take a look at what happens next. The specialist said that it was contained and that is a positive thing.
fingers crossed

Inpatient with recovery

Hello Ladies. It's been 18 days since my surgery and I've become very impatient with this recovery. I thought I'd be farther along then I am by now. I'm still wobbly on my feet, and I'm afraid to drive. I had DH drive me to my mother's on Sunday, which was my first outting since the surgery (a 10 minute drive) I stayed 30 minutes and went home. Then later in the day DH drove me to the dollar store. Another 10 minute drive. I was there 15 minutes. 20 at the most. Well... I was exhausted. I hurt. My tummy was upset. I had diarrhea. I'm still not sleeping well and I've lost more weight. I can't stand this. Simple things still tire me, and I'm still sore when I move around. I was crying last night because of this recovery. I'm just so tired of "recovering." I know it's only been 18 days and I know I can't compare myself to other sister's, but I thought I'd be doing as much as some of you already are. I'm getting depressed too. The horrible gas is back and I can't pass it. My back hurt so bad last night I thought about going back on the pain killers. I'm still taking Motrin. But only 400 mg. at bedtime. It upsets my stomach which is why I cut back on it. I feel like I'm going backwards now. This is so difficult. My ovaries were not taken, but I wake up sweating now. Gross! I'm still spotting and the more I move around the more I spot. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Which I'm allowing for now. Well, I just needed to get that off my chest. Thank you for listening to my ranting.

Hello EasterLily,

I can sympathize with you, as I have felt that my recovery progress has not been going as I had anticipated. My surgery was a few days before yours on April 17th. I did have a TVH, (kept ovaries) A & P Repairs and a TVT sling. Quite a lot of work. In fact , I called and spoke with my surgeon's nurse this afternoon. She reminded me about all the repair work, etc. and said that I would have to take it easy for another two weeks. I do know that women who have had an abdominal hysterectomy or repairs can expect a longer recovery period. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing so many difficulties. I wonder if a call to your doctor would be appropriate. There should be a gradual improvement in how we feel, so if you feel a significant backslide in your recovery it might be a good idea to consult with your doctor. Hope you feel much better very soon!

Hey EasterLily - you need to cut yourself a break!! I had a TVH also 18 days ago and have taken several steps backwards as of late. I was out doing leisurely gardening this weekend and discovered that bending over for more than a few seconds is NOT a good plan. My tummy has been sore ever since and tonight I started bleeding. My DH was somewhat freaked out and promptly directed me to the couch, put an ice pack on my belly and my laptop on my legs I notice that when I go out, I tire easily even though I fight it. I keep reminding myself that they don't call it major surgery for nothing and 6 week recovery means 6 week recovery. Hang in there and do call your doc if you're concerned.
