how long did the dr's say it would be before you are able to go downstairs? I hope not too long, for I am downstairs now and I had my surgery May 3rd.

My Dr said just to use common sense. I had some problems my first couple days home, so I pretty much camped upstairs (close to the bathroom), but as the days went on I would venture downstairs more and more. Even now though, if I go up and down too much, I pay for it later by being sore and/or tired. Good luck with your recovery!

Are you talking about going up and down stairs? because I have been ok with that from the moment I was walking again, it doesn't even hurt, BUT laying on my side is still a pain!!
I expect we all react differently!

My physio made sure I could do a couple of stairs before I left the hospital, I don't have stairs where I live, if I did, I'm guessing that she'd make me do more before I left.

Slow and easy, maybe even just walk/do stairs with a towel across the tummy or a small cushion.

I'm not one to take it easy either. I'm going crazy. And the little that I do, get's me tired and sore.

Hi - I had a TVH ON 4/17 - and finding this board was wonderful. Recovery okay, back at work now after three weeks at home, working part time this week. I get tired and "achy", found that an ice pack on my stomach area feels wonderful. Trying not to push myself... but sometimes it's hard. I FEEL like I can do "more" but then I do and find out I'm wiped out. So yes, take the advise and take it easy all.

new here

Ok i'm new to this site but I am 23 days post hysterectomy but at the same time I had a full tt with mr. so I am having trouble discerning what is what when it comes to my recovery. I have lots of back pain and am having some pretty bad days lately. I get very weepy and down for no apparant reason. I am extremely tired. I mean I'm sleeping like 20 of 24 hours. I don't feel like doing anything and it's all I can do to get to the bathroom. I talked to my surgeon today and she has no explanation for any of this. So I have to go back in next week to see her. Does anyone else have this kind of fatigue and in general body aches and pains.?? I do have a history of fibromyalgia too so I know some of this is due to that. And the tummy tuck is still very sore, especially where the muscle repair was done, and I'm also no spring chicken. Anyone out there in my same boat?????

fingers crossed
Lyzzyanne,
Good luck. I hope they removed everything during your surgery. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Good evening ladies! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op. I went back to the dr for a check up. I was telling her about this prickly stabbing type pain that I have been getting ever since my 17lb cat jumped on my stomach while I was sleeping. I was so surprised I bolted upright. Apparently part of it is healing but the rest is a pulled muscle. Does anyone else have or had these prickly sensations? Have you found anything that seems to help? I've tried to ice packs and heating pads. I'm wondering if this is just something I'm going to have to deal with until I'm totally healed. The dr tells me if I'm in pain take the pills. I'd really rather not.

Hey sisters. Its it 3 weeks post op for me today. Its hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. I would saw overall I am doing very well. Still have some lower back pain but it is slowly getting better. I have a small internal hemorroid that has been acting up but nothing I cant deal with. I am still a bit tired in the afternoons but I loved naps even before surgery. I hope everyone is doing well and happy mothers day to all the mommies out there.
