Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since I had surgery. It did go fast and overall I am very pleased with my recovery. I still get the ache on the ride side of my butt. If it is not gone by my 6 week visit I might ask the doctor about massage for the area.

I took a 3 hour nap after work today which would signal to me that I am still not back to myself. I usually only need a 1 hour nap - lol.

I dont think I have become more reflective on life because of the surgery. Perhaps if I had a life saving procedure I might have been more like that. I do know now that as I have gotten older that with good health you have everything.

5 weeks out today and still just as tired as ever. I'm back to doing the normal stuff, for the most part, but wear out easily. The past few days, there's been alot of lower abdominal pressure that's similar to cramps. Is this normal?

Today is my 5 week anniversary. For the most part I feel pretty good. I have almost no pain. What I do have is more like dull cramps and don't require medication. Just rest. I'm feeling more human now and less as a "patient". I took my daughter to her ultrasound and saw the outline of my grandbaby. Then we went to the store to look at all the baby stuff. I went home and was pretty darn tired. My DH and I had sex for the first time in 5 weeks and it was sort of uncomfortable. My vagina became sore too. When he went all the way in I got a sharp pain. I became so paniced that I would hurt or that I would cause damage that it was hard to enjoy myself, therefor not able to reach the big "O". Which was frustrating. On the brighter side, It feels really good to walk and not have any pain. And to sit, and clean and walk up the steps and turn over in bed. It still hurts a bit to pass gas and sometimes it's hard to pass it. I"m so glad the worst is over. Recovery was really depressing me.

Easterlily,
Glad to see your note, we had the same procedure. Congratulations on your grandbaby - do you know if it's a boy or girl? That's wonderful news!!!!! Hope all continues to go well.
Thanks for writing about sex - sweetie and I are going to go for it this weekend. My anniversary date is Tuesday, but I'm feeling so good - I told him let's shoot for Sunday. He asked "what time?" gotta love that. I'm not really nervous about it, I never had problems with sex before, but I am THINKING about it - "will it feel strange?" etc. Do you feel "shorter" inside? I'm curious about that.
Geeze, I haven't given this much THOUGHT into sex since I was a teenager!!
Thanks, BronxKitty

Hi BronxKitty. We do not know the sex yet. She's 10 - 12 weeks along. She gets another ultrasound in 2.5 months and should be able to determine the sex then if the baby is in the right position.

Since my surgery, my best friend has now gotten pregnant. This is #5 for her. Now a gal down street has told me they are trying (#5). Gosh! I've got to stop telling people before my whole neighborhood is pregnant. It is a little awkward when I see pregnant moms, knowing I can never do it again. I mean, we had figured we were done having biological children anyway. But it's still a little hard, I enjoyed pregnancy. We've talked about adopting in 2-3yrs.

My DH has been bugging me since my DR gave me the o.k. on Tuesday. DH came home with Asti and a bouquet of flowers. I think physically I'm ready, but mentally I'm not. With the problems I had pre-surgery, we haven't done it in so long!! I did venture with one of my favorite toys and found out the big "O" still worked; and no pains afterwards. My DH was happy to hear but bummed he wasn't in on it. Oh well!

I bounced back well. Still dealing with menopause: warm surges and insomnia mostly. I haven't been contemplating life or gone through any major revelations. Maybe if this had been a life threatening surgery I would. I could be the age differences in all us women. I'm much too young to be going through any midlife crisis or anything. For me it's life as usual, and I'm glad for that: trucking my kids around and changing poopy diapers. I'm not anxious for change. I just want to enjoy this time in my life while I can. LIVE IN THE MOMENT! God bless all you ladies for your support and imput, it blesses us all

However, I make sure I am drinking plenty of water and trying to walk as much as my body will allow me; along with eating lots of salads, etc. Perhaps your ovaries are "sleeping" and they will kick back in, soon. For the past 3 or 4 years there will be about 4 or 5 nights (in a row) per month that I just can't sleep ... figured out it was hormonal as it happened at approximately the same time each month in my cycle. Will be interesting to see if it still happens. I kept myovaries, too. Anyway, best of luck. I go back to work, too, next week.
This was my gyno. I am waiting for bloodwork to come back from her office so I can pick up a copy then I am off to my family dr. I know they will repeat it if I don't take it. The constipation is letting up a bit, and that's a big relief! I'm taking it one day at a time. Thanks!
