Still hanging in there although I'm weepy....even though they left my ovaries. DH ran out for breakfast and I woke up alone in the house...and lost it. I have no idea what happened but all of a sudden I was bawling and shaking...couldn't stop. That'll take it out of you!

How's everyone else? Any new updates on Halfie?

Day 4-LAVH

Hello-

Came home day of surgery. Uterus out--many fibroids...uterus size of cantelope...I read a lot of people compare size to weeks in pregnancy--I have no idea...Doc just said cantelope-size. Excessive bleeding then....NONE now. Yipee!

Day 4 after surgery.

Terrible constipation. Colace does not help this system.

Going longer without pain medicine. No bleeding...nothing abnormal. I am truly trying to just rest and I think that helps keep pain and bleeding non-existent.. Walk a bit each day...round the yard..up and down stairs...I fold a load of laundry..wipe coutertops and read and watch movies.

Yesterday, I watched birds. Yes, I like this pace.

Surgery 4/17- 2 hours in surgery, 1/2 hr recovery then was able to see my family, but was so out of it that I don't remember them being there or even saying goodbye, but around 9pm coulnd actually keep my eyes open and felt okay. My pain was no worse than when i had my cramps during my period. I had a catheder and wish they would have left that in place the whole stay, along with that pain pump lol. The next moring they took them ooff, iv out and bandage off and I was able to get up and move around, take showers. I was on a liquid diet all that day until I passed gas, I started chewing gum ASAP that morning, I was told it helps with gas pains and bowel movements and I tell ya it is TRUE!! The ony problem I had/have is peeing, it burns me really bad to pee they sya it is from my body's reaction to the cathader, other than that I have no complaints, I have a 8 inch bikini cut and can't even feel it yet, my stomach is still numb 5 days after the surgery, I walk a little more each day, I can lay on my side or stomach if I choose, just a little hard to get back on my back after getting on my stomach, hehe -but I do have swelly belly, I got home and my kids said" I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO GET RID OF THE BABY MAKER NOT GO TO GET A BABY PLACED IN YOUR BELLY"
I laughed even though they are totally right, I said Yes I did but from the sugery it has given me SWELLY BELLY and my stomach will return to it's normal flat self as soon as it can, so they were happy not to have another bro/sis on the way, lol.
I do use my shower chair and cane daily, I walk around the yard with the cane and my BF has a lawn chair at every corner so I can sit and rest 5 minutes before continuing, I just get bored so easy and that is all I can really do right now, so I am trying to make the best of it. My dad goes back in for another cardiac catherization in a week so I will heal just in time to be there to support him as he did with me!

Just remember Ladies in waiting, Pack your: Gum , Luden's throat drops, lip balm, pony tail holder, Shower cap, PJ'S, slippers, robe, travel pillow, eye mask & ear plugs, brush, ect shower/bathroom items, they supplied my undies & pads, (even though I didn't need them) & shampoo, conditioner, towels, hand soap were also given to me, I did ask to use a shower chair and I Used that ALOT!! I was in a private room and still used my ear plugs and eye mask, I also took paper to write down any short notes I wanted to remember to ask someone, tell you wonderful ladies or just remember. lol.

I hope my experience has helped someone realize that this surgery isn't half as bad as it sounds!! If you have bad cramps, bleeding or pain all the time then this will be easy for you to recover! I just have to get my hormore therapy under control and i will be all set (due to insurance won't cover the patch they started me on) !!!
GOOD LUCK EVERONE AND GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Had surgery 4/17/07 and although gas pains are getting better, experiencing more internal pain. Still have not moved bowels and would give almost anything to do this. Also having a lot of sweating and just not feeling as well as I thought I would. Wish I would have found this site pre-op! Decided not to rush going back to work next week and think it is time to "pamper the princess"!

*Hugs* I'm so sorry you're having a tough time. Yesterday, day 2, I took 2 phillips chocolate chews...they're stool softeners. Within 4 hrs I was able to tend to business and alot of the pressure went away. Someone also suggested canned peaches, so I've been eating those too. I hope things move for you soon and that it's all you need to begin to feel better.

On April 17th, I had a TVH (kept ovaries), A & P repairs, and a TVT. My surgery lasted three hours. I don't know how long I was in recovery, but when I woke up, I was comfortable. I was taken to my room, and the medication in the IV continued to keep me comfortable. I had a morphine pump, but did not use it that much. My biggest problem was gas pain. I was walking on April 18th, trying to get a handle on the gas pain. I was released on April 19th. I have been walking, resting and drinking lots of water. I still seem to have fatigue as my companion. I am so appreciative of this site, as it has been a source of great information and help!

Had TAH on the 18th.......remember waking up with a lot of pain, my husband said I was really hitting the morphine button for self medication for a while there, it doesn't matter how many times you hit it it will only work a certain amount of times anyway!!
By 9pm I was feeling pretty good & with it.
The next day had the cath out & DH helped me with a shower (doesn't that first one feel good??!!). Don't know too much about the surgery side of things went in just after 10.30am & was out from recovery about 1am. Haven't suffered with gas pains (just wish I could go...you know!!!) not in much pain except on one side where I think there is a stitch that needs to be cut as the others are all dissolving, think I will ring the doctor on that one today.
After 2 basically sleepless days & nights (in maternity ward with what seemed like 50 angry babies that didn't want to sleep at all!!!) the waterworks started when the doc did his rounds on the Friday & I begged him to let me go home, which he consented too, but had to be late in the afternoon.
I was so glad to see my bed & appreciate the quite.......& did i sleep!! I took my own pillow to hospital which was really good & the sleep mask, I did take ear plugs but they didn't work!!
So now it's just taking it easy walking lots, drinking lots of water & waiting for nature to do it's thing.

I truly wish all the sisers a speedy & happy recovery

Hey all!! I am so glad to see so many of us doing so well...and I am eager to see more posts from more sisters! I finally had a bm and I am feeling better. My DD brought me some metamucil apple crackers which I hope will help me in the future...and they don't taste so bad! I slept pretty good my first night home, I only had to get up once and I only woke up to readjust a couple of times. Sorry I haven't posted much...but we have company in the house and it is hard to spread the time between the family, sleep and here!

Hugs to all!
Wendy
