Tinkbell,
Loved your post – thanks for writing!! Congrats on your six weeks – now you had a TVA and kept your ovaries, right? Same as me, my surgery was also April 17. We are truly HYSTERSISTERS! J
I agree, it is so wonderful how the Grace of this board has brought us all together, it’s so good to know that there are women who understand, truly understand. I’ve found so much comfort on this board – and laughs!!!!
As for sex – recently I had someone (a woman) refer to my surgery as “having your sex organ removed” – needless to say that did NOT sit well with me. I let her know right up that my SEX organ was right where it’s always been, right above my eyes.
Remember, most of sex is in our heads… think sexy, think loving, it really is where it all starts.
I’m feeling really good these days, but a trip to the gym last night was an eye opener… oy, I paid for that. Otherwise suffering from some constipation issues – so raisin bran every morning and a mild stool softener at night if I feel I need it.
Feeling “large” which I don’t like, was losing some weight before surgery in time for summer vacation… so much for that. But on the other hand I keep telling myself, THIS is who I am and screw it. I’m happy and that’s the main thing.
I really believe that our hysterectomies where in many ways Life-Changing surgeries – both physically and mentally. I feel a certain power, this may sound crazy, bare with me, I feel a certain power in making the decision to have this done, taking control of my body. Does that make sense?
In any event, thanks for this time to let me speak my mind, it feels so good. You are all WONDERWOMEN!!!!!

Moulton- wow! I went to the gym for the first time last night, just treadmill, 30min mile, and after a half hour I was DONE. Pooped and achy after that. You're an inspiration!!
Yes - let's all stay on the board, we need this!
As for sex everyone? A glass of wine maybe? dim lights (always a must anyway in my opinion), don't rush into it - lots of foreplay.
Best to you all!
yes this am hd and i had full penetration, felt soooo good, no big 0 because i was worried about him hurting me. i felt him on the cuff once, it did not hurt, i had slight pink blood, and tiny little aching. first timers, is this normal. thanks

I have a very low self esteem and that may be the problem along with being tired. Thanks for the help ladies. Keep healing and please don't stop blogging just because your six weeks is up!
Heck yes, I've noticed a problem with acne and my facial skin just feels different. Don't know how to explain it though and it's been like this since I came home from the hosp. My post-op is on Friday this week and I plan to mention it. I don't have my ovaries and have been taking evening primrose oil and extra fish oil to combat hot flashes and night sweats so maybe that's why my facial skin feels different?

Haven't done the deed with the DH yet, my stomach is still very, very tender and everyday I hope to wake up with that pain gone, and I wish to have the Drs' blessing too. I still have a good amount of cramping type pain in the lower abdomin in the afternoons and pm. Get's uncomfortable to sit in certain chairs etc., but don't really notice it till end of day and by then belly is swelly. I no longer have that constant feeling like somethings falling out, only once and a while it comes and goes.

Hope you all keep on healing well and thank you all for sharing your experiences!

Thanks for all the advice. Too bad I don't like wine! I may have to try a "drink" though. Sorry for you all that are still cramping and having pain--I have no pain which is GREAT--the first time in a long time that I can say that. I didn't spot or anything either after the first time but we waited an extra week after the doc released me. I was just too scared. Maybe I need a "happy" pill so I won't feel so disgusted with myself. Too bad I can't change my opinion of myself. Congrats on all of you that have energy to work out. I walked the neighborhood Sunday and my legs got so sore--they are just now returning to normal. I think my body has enjoyed being lazy!

Hey, I need to vent... This is making me NUTS!!! I had the most amazingly frustrating experience today. I got a call this morning from my GYNOs office. I didn't make it to the phone on time, so they left this message. Your appointment is next Thursday at I forget what time. In order to be seen at this time you must bring $500 or you won't be seen. About 10 days ago I recieved a bill from them saying my portion not covered by insurance for the GYNO was about $1100, and I needed to pay that off in 3 equal payments. They gave the payments in june - august. It came out to payments near $400 a month. When I got it they never spoke to me or even allowed me to speak to their billing department. All they said was that I had to stick to the payment plan. SO, when I got this message I was so upset. I insisted to speak to the office manager, and she tells me that since I have seen the dr 6 times and have been so much trouble that instead of just having 1 or 2 post op appointments they need my payment in full. She also told me it was not realistic to expect anyone to pay $100 or even $200 a month for such a long period of time. I was irate! The only reason I had so many visits post op was because my incision split open due to a hematoma. I had to go back to the ER 2 days after being released even after I told her there was lots of pressure on the insicion. She has been a good dr but her staff just STINKS!!! My 1st post op her nurse asked me when I delievered. I just looked at her and wanted to scream. Every time I call to ask questions or have a problem they treat me like I'm some sort of moron. I've worked in healthcare for years and never heard of such tactics.
Thanks for listening ladies. It just helps to get it out.

Oceanz...
Hi, when you see your doctor on Thursday TELL HER what's going on - so many times the docs do not know what's going on up front, tell her. Good luck - keep us posted.
You don't need this frustration right now. Hang in there.

So, tomorrow completes my 6 weeks of recovery. I went back to work on Tues, working half days. Weds was really the only bad day so far. After work I had errands to run and I know if over did it. I was sore, stiff and had pain, not to mention exhausted! DH is all over me trying to have sex. I'm not ready yet and I'm not really looking forward to it either. The depression has been a problem ever since the surgery, but I'm hoping getting back into my routine will help ease it. I guess I've been pretty lucky pain wise. The past 2 weeks it was very minimal. The night sweats and mini hot flashes have stopped, so I guess my ovaries are functioning again. I'm hoping to find the motivation to start excersing. I need to do some serious crunches!! I'm not sure what's up with the rumor that we get booted off after 6 weeks, but I got an email from Hystersister's saying that they hope I stick around to help those ladies in waiting. Unless we only get booted from this thread after 6 weeks. I hope that's all it is. I don't want to leave this website. It's been priceless.

I plan to speak to her. I'm hoping this isn't standard procedure like the office manager stated. What a shame it would be for people who really can't afford good healthcare. Thanks for listening!

Hello girls, I am now post op 6 weeks and two days, I feel my situation has not been handled in the best way and as a result of that I have not had a 6 week check, I have to wait until next week to see my GP to see if all is well.
Once this is all over I am going to 'have words' with my surgeon. He has carried out the hysterectomy and removed the cancer, BUT the aftercare has been crap. If it hadn't been for this place who knowsw what I would have done.
So thanks everyone, you have been a great support5 and friends in my dark days.

Hello to all, I got on the site earlier and couldn't find you guys. I am so happy you are here. Found out that we have to go to one of the other areas to continue. Lyzzyanne - I have had the same problems. VH - kept my left ovary on April 16th. My surgeon is nothing more than a cut you open, take the problem, and stitch you up. I had my 6 week check up yesterday. He said I was good to go but was still bleeding due to granula. Okay, what the heck is that? He said extra tissue and put this silver stuff in me that has made me cramp, pinch, and leak tons of silver nasty goo!!!!! I asked when I would stop having to us a pad? His reply today, last day, you and husband good to go! UH!!!!! I thought with this coming out of me!!! And today I am still leaking and wearing a pad. What the heck! Anyone else going through this? Anyway I feel for you! I go back to work on Monday (teach 2nd grade) i feel I am up for it but a little scared. I hope you are all doing well. Glad to see our thread is still running! Cheers, Tinkbell
