Had my staples out yesterday. I work from home and have enough attention span to work maybe 10 minutes of each hour!! Still tire very easily - even singing with my grandson requires resting. Drove first time postop today --Glad it was only about 12 miles- came home and took a nap then. Have been only needing Motrin for pain since discharge from hospital.

Had emergency TVH on Sunday, April 22 due to fibroids and hemorrhage. Lost two unit of blood in two days...four weeks previously I had a hemorrhage and lost almost half my blood volume and they did a D&C to stop that bleeding, but it recurred when I got my period. I came home yesterday and I am having some pain today, and lots of gas pains too. Trying to get up and walk a little every hour or so...

Hello Ladies,
Greetings from the UK. I had my op Last Wednesday (18th of April) I had a total hysterectomy, including cervix, tubes, and ovaries.
I had the op under epidural and was awake although slightly dozy, It really disorentated me, felt like I was drunk and I chatted to the surgeon and actually sang a Donny osmond song at one point.
The op itself was carried out after they found pre cancerous cells, I don't have the Path lab results as yet.
I came home three days post op, with 48 staples/clips feeling very uncomfortable my belly is so tender and swollen.
I am going back to the hospital tomorrow to have some of the clips removed.
So far I have found it hard to get comfortable at night, I have hated sleeping on my back and the pain when I move to my side is getting better.
I have been at home being looked after by my mum, who trained as a nurse in the 1950's and would like me to be confined to my bed or in a wheelchair all the time !! I feel that I am making good progress and hope that I will be well enough to sun myself if we ever get a decent summer!!

Liz

lsh on April 19

I had my surgery on April 19 only uterus removed had adanomyosis, fibroids and removed cysts on ovaries plus removed the clamps from having my tubes tied. I went home the following day and was fine until I started taking the pain medicine. Saturday was awful so had to call the doc to learn I was having an allergic reaction to the pain meds. Have been taking the gas-x and the MOM so that part has been fine. My arm where the IV was has been bothering me-not sure what's up with that. Am probably overdoing it and am very sore today so I am going to slow down. The soreness is nothing compared to the 3 weeks of cramps anyday! Good luck to all and thanks hystersisters for being here!

I'm having a similar day today myself! Very tired and weepy for no reason (feeling any progress made physically has reversed!) Also having major problems with sweats and chills but not running a fever. My surgery was on the 17th & I wish I would have taken 3 weeks off from work. Told my boss I might be in tomorrow but that ain't gonna happen! My advice to future hyster sisters is take as much time off as you can! You are going to need it and you deserve it!!

Back pain in recovery was rough, but I have a herniated disk. It was under control pretty quickly. No exterior incisions, just vaginal. It's amazing that my surgeon could do all that vaginally. I'm pretty tired, so I'll go now. Thanks for all your support

Enjoyed sleeping in this morning and not being poked, picked and prodded from 6-10 a.m. Two rounds around the culdesac this morning and afternoon and now I'm ready for a nap. I really appreciate all the information left on this site. It's been very helpful.
