Good Morning

Good Morning Hyster Sisters

Today I felt fine until I had a sneeze attack, 4 sneezes and OUCHIE!

The burning, stinging and pulling was soooo bad. Please no more sneezing

Hope everyone has a fabulous day and don't sneeze!

Hello ladies!

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on April 27 and am feeling much better. I definitely have a swelly belly and I'm not too happy about that since it was "swelly" enough before the surgery. I am definitely determined to do something about THAT when I'm able. I have some issues that I want to run by the doctor today to see what he has to say (urinary and bowel related). I had my first BM 5 days after the surgery (thank you senokot-s!). My sons and boyfriend celebrated along with me--high fives all around. As a matter of fact, we celebrated each bodily function as it returned . On another note, I am trying to take it easy, not do too much, and have been successful so far. However, I'm not sure how long that will last since I am already bored to tears.

I'm home and back on my PC!

Hi,

Sorry about the delay in getting to this site. I missed everyone, but my surgeon was strick with no stairs for a week and my PC is upstairs. I really missed my PC!

I went up to the on April 27th and came home on April 28th. I hadn't expected such a short stay, I didn't even have time to get my things organized in the hospital...it was so quick! Yes, I am officially a "Punctured Princess"

My surgeon was wonderful. He visited me 5 times in the two days I was there and never rushed out. He always waited until all my questions were answered and I was at ease with everthing before he left. He left saying he would be back, until our last day when he did my release paperwork and explained what I could and could not do while home. He had orginally told me to call him during his office hours on Tuesday to schedule an appt with him to take the staples out on Saturday (tomorrow), but instead had his assistant call me on Monday (non-office hours) to schedule, which I thought was very nice of him. So tomorrow I am off to have the staples removed.

The after surgery pain, if you can call it that, I was on morphine for a short time and then I went off it myself, was not bad at all. I was surprised, as was the doctor and nurses in the hospital how alert I was right after the surgery. I was up and talking to everyone and couldn't wait to get out of the bed, but I have IV, Morphone pump, leg clamps and cathether still on. By the next morning, everything was removed.

Believe it or not, I didn't miss the solid food. I actually enjoyed the lemon ice, lemon jello, tea, broth, etc. that I was given the first day and for breakfast the second day.

I'm home since last Saturday, April 28th. Finally got to take my first full shower...I was taking sponge baths, ugh! Wish there had been a shower on the first floor where I was recuperating. Anyway, I have tons of Get Wells Cards from my friends, bouquets of flowers...several, garden flowers, candy (have to watch the candy...I am adicted to that!) and have been pampered like a princess. I could really enjoy this!

Some of my friends have already stopped over bearing gifts...p.J's, candy, Grabbers (to get things in high or low places). I really needed the "Grabbers." I owe more calls to more of my friends...some I have already spoken to.

My Vice-Queen in my Red Had Group is taking care of our Red Hat Anniversary Party for May. We are officially starting our 4th year as Red Hatters. I won't be attending the party, but don't plan on missing our next meeting in June. I can't wait to see all the ladies in my group. They were so supportive and so comforting in my time of need.

Well, all I can say is that waiting is still the worst part of this, the surgery and post op were not as bad as the anxioty of waiting.

P.S. As for the cancel issue, the surgeon said it was "superficial." Caught way before it could do any damage. YEA!

Today I have the sneezes and man is that painful!!!! I am otherwise doing well. I would rather cough, cause I can control it and grab a pillow and hold me. It is easier to let a cough out than a sneeze. I can't hold me with one hand and cover my mouth easily. I just dont cover my mouth for a cough at this point in time.
Hope everyone has a relaxed comfortable day.

Hi all,
I am still having a lot of pain, but today the pain was more so, we are having rain in the area and that makes my fibromyalgia act up, so with the belly a pain and the fibro pain it doubles the pain.

with the bm's it doe's not know what to do, I have gone several times since I have been home. I'm a terrible not drinking the water I should be drinking. (bad, bad, bad).

I was fortunate that I did not have staple's in, sewn inside, steri-strips on incision. I don't see the doctor for another 3 weeks.

well talk soon.

today was my best day - until I took a shower. After the shower, my incision started opening and blood was pouring down. I called the doc, he says this is normal, but boy is it a pain to deal with!
Had to send hubby out for gauze pads. Anyone else have this?
