I felt just like you when my staples were removed - My incision opened a little and I ended up going to the hospital to get it checked as it was the weekend and my gyno was not in. It turned out to be fine and has started to heal. I am still taking it easy, though. I just read that one of the girls was off back-packing! (her surgery was the same day as mine) Getting out of my pajamas and wearing clothes for the first time today has been my biggest accomplishment so far - I am really trying to take it slow so I can be back to work when my 6 weeks are up. I can say that I feel better every day and you will, too.

Thanks for sharing. I hate to go to the hospital if I don't need to. I think I'll hang in there and go back to bed. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Well I finally feel ready to tell my story...I had a fibroid larger than a softball causing soooo much bleeding and loss of iron the doc recommended TAH. Had this done April 27/07. I've never been sick a day in my life and I really thought I'd bounce back in a week and enjoy the next 5 weeks off work. As many of you know, one thing leads to another. The bladder was attached to the uterus so he had to put a hole in the bladder to remove the uterus. He repaired it with a stitch but the catheter had to stay in 10 days. I went home 3 days post op with a leg bag (sounds worse than it is) and the nurses showed me how to change to a night bag so i wouldn't have to get up at night. Had a quick ultrasound before I left just to make sure everything was OK. Next day, urologist called, something not quite right with kidneys. Go for xray next day. That leads to cat scan and panic by me. Of course no one tells you anything. Next thing you know I'm having another surgery, although it was day surgery thank god, to place a stent because of a kinked ureter caused by the TAH. Finally after 11 days I had the cath removed and I feel like a new woman. I lost 14 pounds due to not much appetite and probably stress. Post op pain only lasted about a week but now my tummy is tingly like when you're foots asleep. I've been really taking it easy but hope to get motoring a little more each day. Oh yah, one last thing, all those antibiotics during surgery gave me another little present, but that's gone too now thanks to the wonder pill. In 8 weeks the stent will come out. Hopefully they knock me out for that too. I'm supposed to go back to work in 4 weeks, hope I can stand for longer than 1/2 an hour then. I've gotten good info from this site and it's nice to know help is close by. Thanks for listening.

Well It's been two weeks since I got home from the hospital. Still doing fine, Doc said I could drive, haven't yet but this next week I will. I had night sweats really bad the night of surgery and about three days after. They have not returned this far. The doc has me on a hrt patch as both overies were removed. I am not sure I like having to wear a patch though. I too get tired just like that, and have a couple spots inside that bother me here and there. My biggest complaint is that I want to take a bath, my bubble bath is my wind down in the evening and I miss that part of the day. Doc took out the staples and put steri strips on my incision, bath can happen when strips fall off. Showers are great in the am ..but there is nothing as relaxing to a pisces than a bubble bath!
Hope everyone else is doing good!

I had a TAH/BSO on April 30th and just went to the doctor on Friday. He gave me the ok to drive as long as I am not driving for more then 30 minutes at a time. I drove yesterday and it was wonderful, no problems at all. The only thing I notice is that if I am out on outings, I get tired very easy when I get home and go to bed very early.

Just wanted to check in and say I'm home safe, and apart from a few blisters due to new hiking boots, I think I'm just fine!
I don't want to broadcast this little excusion too much, want othes to play it safe, but I think I'm fine. Felt some pulling while I had the pack on, but now I'm ok, don't think any real damage has been done. It was probably just due to the hipbelt. My hipbone was a little sore, but it's ok now.

You certainly have been thru a lot! Things will only get better for you now - if you take it easy, I'm sure you'll be back to work as expected.
