For gas I have been taking Gas X, the max per day. I keep a pack of chewables next to the bed, so I have been able to keep it under control. Remember to not drink any carbonated drinks while still having gas pain. I really wish my belly didn't feel so swollen and uncomfortable. I feel like I have to be soooo careful. 6 days out, I thought I would feel much better by now.

Thanks and sending you all quick healing vibes ;-)
I have spinal arthritis and degenerative disc disease, so yeah, I hear ya about about the back pain. Heating pads help. Making sure to stay out of positions that put pressure on the critical spots. If all else fails, I find the pain meds work on that as well.

I would actually suggest ice for the low back pain. We already have tons of blood flowing in our abdomens right now, that contributes to the pain and discomfort a great deal. Ice will help. Try it.

headache?

Boy, doneit, you must have read my mind.Today I had the worst headache, and the vicodin just wouldn't touch it. I sent my wonderful hubby to get me some Motrin, and I swear, within a half hour,it was gone! I had such a good weekend, today wasn't nearly so good. Lots of tenderness on my left side, the incision is seeping a little, the Doc said it probably would. Also, if any of you have a TAH, is it just me,or can you feel some throbbing way up inside where the vaginal cuff is? I swear,I can feel the stitches, and it is really uncomfortable to sit for very long! I,too have insomnia, just can't seem to settle down for a very long night. But rest,we must,so they say. Good luck with the headache, tomorrow will be better!

Hi, I am 1 week post op, the pain isn't so bad now, but I have taken Milk of Magnesia and no BM, I had one small one on Sunday but nothing since, so I guess one more try with the Milk of Magnesia. I have a catheter, due to a bladder tear in the OR that I have to wear for two weeks (yuk!), it came unhooked this morning and leaked all over my bed! I couldn't believe it. I guess it could be worse, it could have come out. Otherwise feeling pretty good.

TAH/BSO vertical incision but kept cervix as it was twice as long as normal and the dr elected to not try removal. Am physically healing well. Uterus was the size of 5 month pregenacy. No Endo, one small fibroid, and the rest was Adenomyosis. Down to pain pills at night and tylenol during the day. I am not on HRT yet. I'm having "power surges" at about 1-2am like clockwork. Have a routine now that helps. Have fan on when going to bed. Sheet to cover Blanket on other side of pillow buddy. Power surge comes. Throw off sheet and allow fan to cool. When cool pull sheet and blanket over. During the day I do T.E.D. hose aerobics to keep wrinkles from developing at knees and ankles. Hose are to said to prevent clots. Personally, I think it is a way for the dr. to ensure that I don't sit too long and loose arm strength.
All the plumbing is working although a little sluggish at times.
Mentally, I'm okay just stressed. My 39 yr cousin passed away the morning after my surgery. I got the call in the hospital because my parents cells were off. It was not an unexpected event as he was not expected to live past his teenage years and had been ill for the last few months. Still a sad occurence for the family.
Went home on Thurs. Pretty wiped out so slept most of Thurs. and Fri. Sat. parents went to the funeral 3 hrs away. So it was to be DH, DS, and I at home. Had a friend come over about 1pm as DH wanted to run errands a little later. At 2pm DH spiked a fever. Colds/Flu has been circulating at his work. So thought it was that. He laid down. Friend had to leave so called another to come sit with me. About 6pm fever was up to 104. Sent DH to hospital via ambulance as parents not back yet. Friend #2 stayed until parents back and settled. DH as cellulitus caused by a fast acting bacteria. He is diabetic and due to some weird chemical thing cannot keep a bandage, cobain or any other usual medical adhesive stuck to his skin. So he will be at the hospital a few more days until the swelling is down more and his temp is normal without tylenoyl. My dad is retired. So he ran my mom home (2hr away) Sun. Friend #1 stayed Sun. and Mon. Dad was back. I got permission for a brief visit with DH yesterday. Think we will have to make do with phone conversations until he gets home because it completely pooped me out to go see him for just 10 min. I'm definitely having more pain today. So will rest as I get staples out tomorrow morning. I'm still wearing the tummy binder. Itching has commenced but a cold gel pack takes care of the worst. I keep busy homeschooling my son, reading, knitting, and working on a dragon shaped jigsaw puzzle.
Whee! If you have made it to here, thanks for listening. Hope all is going well and calmly for all the recovering princesses.

Hugs,
Crystal

Hi girls!!

Hi ladies! I am doing great except if I sit for too long and then get up I feel like my insides are coming right out! Doesn't help my husband and son have a stomach virus. I am praying that I don't get it. Otherwise I have found it so helpful to read all your posts...it makes me feel like I am not alone. I am looking forward to continued recovery and can't wait to get my house back in order. I know I shouldn't worry but the dust bunnies are driving me nuts. Well ladies take care and here is to a life free of pain and periods!!
