Good to hear about the progress for some ladies. Now don't overdue it.

Sometimes it really surprises/irritates me how things still go up and down. Last week was so good for me. I did lots of walking and was SO happy and active. Well, since Sunday I have been kind of dragging and feeling sore. I try to ignore it and just keep going. This morning I went to a farm and picked strawberries and MAN did that make me sore. I was so tired I had to take an hour nap after lunch. What a bummer!

Please tell me what we are doing with these email addresses we are supposed to share? How is that supposed to work?

I worked today and chatted with a secretary there who had a hysterectomy 21 years ago and she says she still doesn't regret the decision. Recovery is a long process and can be frustrating (I haven't had a decent BM for days...) but I think we all made the right decision. Our life will be much better because of it. The more I talk to some women I have known for years the more I find a lot have had the surgery so we are actually joining a larger population than we might think.

At this point, I don't think my belly is going to unswell ever as I keep doing things and the more I do the more I swell, but again, a small price to pay for the increased quality of my life.

I will miss this post thread when it closes so I am glad we are making other plans.

Happy almost summer!

I guess I am the slower poke in hitting this site here. Glad to find it and now feel like it is clear about what we are in this string about.
Personally, I do not know if I fel qualified to give any advice, I really only have my experience and the rest of your progress reports as information. I think we are all as unique in healing as we can be. This is why I have not presumed to venture into the other strings. But maybe I will but always disclaim what I say. After all, advice is just that, not a rule or something.

So I will check back here later and see where we all are.

April Girls:

I had my final appt. Tuesday, the 8 week point. The vaginal cuff was healing well, only needing a small dab of silver nitrate. I agree Jane: we have joined a huge population. It seems that once I had mine, I find out half my office has also and are all in a better place than they were pre-surgery. Hormone therapy seems to be the dividing factor and usually a topic of our conversations now . I started Climara the day after surgery and am happy with it. I heard a news report yesterday abut how the fear that estrogen replacement causing an increase in heart attack and stokes has been reassessed and the risk is much less than thought. I’ll take that good news.
My swelly belly is also finding itself at home. I am back to working out and it is funny how I swell afterwards – kinda the opposite effect I am going for. Oh well…in time…in time. See you all on the April Girls thread.

Ever since I had my hysterectomy, it seems that I know more women that have had one than have not had one. Gee, what's going on? Why do so many women these days need this surgery? My sister had one, my aunt had one, my sister in law had one, my dental hygenist had one, even an office worker I know. Now me and everyone that went into the hospital at the same time I did. Now the problem I am having is deciding on whether I want to go on HRT. I do really get warm and my bones feel achey. It's been 8 weeks out for me now, and I think a lot of the stored estrogen is about gone. I get short tempered when I don't mean to. Along with insomnia and hot flashes. Most likely I'll go on it. It's just a matter of when. I notice I feel more anxious now, but it's probably due to lack of estrogen.

Your experience is more valuable than you think. The way you word something to a lady in waiting or to someone feeling down might be just the trick for them to feel more reassured. Everyone is different, and good experience is what people need to hear about. Unfortunately, it's the usually bad experiences that everyone's willing to share. You had your surgery, which makes you qualified to help others. Share on, sista!

All the info and support from other sisters was/is SO important. It felt so good to be prepared for all the doctors appointments and all the friendships between us all have been fantastic. Remember the movie "Pay it back". If you haven't seen it you should watch it. It is now our turn to Pay it back by supporting other ladies.

It is my sons birthday tomorrow (turns 9) so we are going to spend the night in a hotel with a huge indoor waterpark. The kids love it there. So I am putting on my swimsuit for the first time with swelly belly and all. It actually does not look to bad in the morning but by the late afternoon and evening it is definitely there. I hope no one asks me when my due date is!!!!!!!!!

I did notice too that it swells up when I exercise. Oh well - a small price to pay for freedom from bleeding problems.
