The Waiting Game

My doctor told me to wait 8 weeks for sex but most only have to for 6 weeks? If you had to wait only 6 what kind of surgery did you have and if you had to wait 8 like me what kind did you have? I am curious as to why I have to wait 8 but some only 6 and sometimes 4.I know each doctor is different but I really would like to know if there is a reason. Any input would be great!

I had a TVH and was released for sex and all other activity at 5 weeks. You're right, every dr. is different. I would ask your dr about the wait time and see what they say.

I am 5 weeks post-op LAVH/BSO/anterior repair. I did have complications with a hematoma and infection that put me back in the hospital for 5 days. My doc said it will be 10 weeks for me. At 5 weeks I just stopped bleeding and still have a lot of stitches that the doc said will take 8 weeks to disolve. I still have a lot of soreness and can't imagine being good to go at 6 weeks.

Yeah I had alot of repairs down there too! I had a cystocele and a recotcele repair. It may be why he is telling me 8 weeks. I feel great though and feel ready. I am just over 6 right now. We are going away next weekend and it will be very close to 8 so I am wondering if I will be okay then. I may try since it will only be a few days difference. OMG should I?

I had LAVH and only had to wait 4 weeks.

I had a TVH and was told 6 weeks to wait for sex. I felt ready at 4 but did what my OB said.......I was glad because it was kinda sore the first time. I would just ask your Doc and see if it is ok or not.

I had a TAH BSO and was told 6 weeks. I am very nervous about this. He also said that he didn't think that i would need to get lubrication, but he said to have it on hand just it case.
