I realized that I would get the good ol' "swelly belly", but I thought that it would recede with activity. After the six week post op checkup, I went back to work. I never re-evaluated my meager wardrobe, and the first day back it was near 90 in the twin cities. I was miserable in pants that would not even zip all the way up, much less button.

I wish that I had been more prepared for the jumbo waistline and swelly belly syndromes. Any suggestions or similar problems? Luckily I have some summer dresses without waistlines, and I did find that stretch jeans work great.

I found maternity leggings to work well. These are the kind that don't have a separate sewn in panel but just have a little extra room in the tummy. In fact I'm wearing the shorts version right now even 8 weeks after surgery. The extra fabric doesn't get in the way when my tummy is down, but it sure is nice to have if I need it towards the end of the day.

Hi Kat!

I live and work in Houston, TX. It's in the 90's with 90 plus percent humidity most days. Lucky me I can wear jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes to work. Unlucky me I had a lot of bloating and uncomfort prior to my surgery due to prolapsed everything.

It got to where I couldn't stand jeans any longer. And knowing the swelly belly was coming soon, I went out and bought summer dresses with no waist lines. I call them my fat dresses. Some I will be able to have altered later, some I'll just have to give away. But they are comfortable and cool.

I like dlp242's idea of the maternity leggings. I may have to check them out when I return to work. I wore a pair of my exercise (short leggings - mid thigh) shorts yesterday and they were extremely comfortable. Stretched just enough so I'm sure the maternity leggings would work as well since I can't wear shorts to work.

Good luck in finding something comfortable. I'm two weeks post op today and feel the best I have since surgery.
