PCBabe, I know the feeling about taking meds, but if you could just take them every 4 hours or so, the pain would not be so bad, Don't try to be strong right now,you don't have to hurt that bad. I started out doing that, just taking them when it hurt so bad I would cry, but I found if I take half the davocet every 4 hours, it keeps the pain at bay. I have been sleeping in the recliner because it is easier to get up and down, I still find it hard to lay flat on my back. I wish there was a handle dangling from the ceiling above my bed!

Hi PCbabe,
Keep up the fluids, it should get better in a short period of time. Always have someone or something to assist with the standing. If you're alone use a kitchen chair as a stablizer, I read that on this website!

Good luck~Eleanor

Two week post op

Tomorrow will be two weeks since having the LAVH and it was nice seeing the doctor who performed it again and getting to talk to him without me being all loopy on meds. My appt was at 10:30 and we didn't get out of there until noon and let me tell ya, those chairs and that table was soooo uncomfortable! The nurse said since it was only two weeks he'll just want to talk but when he finally came in he said no, we needs to do a pelvic because of all the stitches I ended up needing to make sure I didn't rupture. My colon was just about adhered to the uterus before surgery so he had difficulty removing it without me losing a lot of blood. :-( Turns out, I was right all along, there *was* a large cyst that the newer tests didn't find & it was the same one I've had since I was a teenager that the doctor's kept blowing off saying it was normal. I'm still on 6-8 weeks of taking it easy - no lifting anything heavier than a milk jug, no bending/stooping or vacuuming, laundry etc.

Now I'm spotting a bit from the pelvic and that visit really did a number on me. I'm exhausted and I'm sore. *sigh* I am going to lay in bed with a book or maybe take a nap.

13 days out...

I'm not taking any pain meds at all. It's been 2 days.
I'm having a hard time falling asleep and have been relying on my anxiety meds and/or sleeping pills. However, I don't want to depend on them. The doctor prescribed AmbienCR but I'm afraid it will make me addicted. Does anyone else take it?
Other than that, I'm feeling much better than a few days ago. I was in a funk for 3 days where I was crying, having panic attacks, just out of sorts.
I go back to the Dr. on the 25th.
Is anyone taking Estradiol patch? I am on .05mg and change it once a week.
The hot flashes come and go. I wonder how long we will have to deal with them?

Hey ladies, 2 weeks post-op. Doing pretty good. Probably did to much yesterday so I'm taking it real easy for the next few days. The only problem I seem to have is with my bladder or when urinating. In the middle of the night I wake up in pain needing to go to the bathroom, I can barely stand up. You would think I would pee a gallon, but I just go like normal. My doctor put me on an antibiotic in case I have a infection and told me to drink cranberry juice. When I urinate during the day, there is some discomfort but its not very bad. Is anyone else having the same problem. or any ideas?

Sweetersgrl, I have a pain when I pee, but I think it might be bladder spasms. I also have some discomfort when I wait too long to get to the bathroom. Im sure its from the bladder being pushed all around in there; just recovering. My pains have been improving and today I barely noticed it until I was nearly done peeing; maybe there's hope. Give yourself time, more of it, and if not any better call Dr.

My new problem, 15 days post op, is back pain. If I stand for more than 10 minutes my mid back is killing me. Same with walking, and Ive been doing quite a bit for a week or more! Its so hard to sit here and do nothing when overall I feel better every day.......

13 days post-op

Hello, princessess! PCBABE, I had a latvh, and have been experiencing pain when peeing, and having bms. It has been getting better, though in the mornings, it is worse, but each day I feel improvement. My MD said it was bladder spasms from manipulation of my bladder (to get to my uterus) during the surgery. Hang in there and take care! Also, if you can, I would suggest calling your MD to be on the safe side because you also want to rule out any UTI possibilities and hemorrhoids, too!
Much warm healing,
Poohtie

I am glad to know that I am not the only one feeling kind of out of sorts emotionally. I am so prone to depression, that I'm scared to death this is going to throw me for a loop. So it does get better????? Also I'm on day thirteen and soooo tired - is that normal?

I agree it is hard to just sit, especially while I see things in my house that need to get done - laundry piling- up. I kinda feel guilty just sitting here watching it pile.

I'm having the same problem. How much sitting can one person do? I've done 2 loads of laundry today and thats it. I am so bored. I like to read, but I don't even want to do that. Patience is not my strong point.
