Feeling good today

Hello all,

17 days post op and feeling alot better. Got out of the house yesterday for a few hours and it sure felt good. I was a little tired after the drive and sore but all I needed was a motrin to calm the pain. Seems I am best in the morning and as the day progresses I slowly get tired and start getting pain. I know I am getting better because my bladder doesnt hurt as much when I have to use the bathroom. My appetite is still weak and have not gained the 5 pounds I lost since I have had the surgery.
Hang in there girls, it does get better!

Monday will be my 2 week checkup and hope to be released back to work, not sure if this will happen. but I will keep my fingers crossed. Never thought I would say Im ready to go back to work

Sherri

Thanks For Your Replies

Hi Ladies

Thanks for your replies, it seems as if i am not the only
one suffering from stomach ache/twinges etc. My Mum
keeps telling me i am expecting too much too soon & that
it's going to take time to heal etc. If my pains continue
over the weekend i will make an appointment at the Doctors
on Monday just to be on the safe side.

Keep well everyone

Love Bev xx

Hey Gals,
15 days post -Op and last night I felt a strange twinge like a UTI...this morning it wasn't any better so I called Dr. Glad I did ,,,I started antibiotics before noon and really feel it now. I asked Dr. why so far out of surgery and he said many things..who knows? if I 'm not any better by Monday gotta go see him. Feel feverish and UGH!!!
Walked this morning and some last night.. I will remain positive this isn't major just a pain!!
Any one else out there experience this?

I am just reading through your all your messages & it sounds like most of us are suffering similar types of symptoms. The only thing i am concerned about is the stomach ache that i am getting & sharp twinges of pain.
It's almost like severe period pains (and i really know all
about them !!!) when i have been sat or laid down for a while & then get up gosh it;s almost agony to try & walk.
I am 15 days post op TAH due to multiple fibroids & large
uterus, i feel like crying as i don't seem to be getting better
at all. The swelling/fluid build up around my incision seems
to be going down, it's just this pain that i am suffering.

Hey Bev,
I've been doing the same thing with the stomach pain. It kind of feels like contractions of a sort. I keep telling myself it is probably my stomach muscles doing funky things. Might not hurt to call the doctor and get his opinion.

The doctor told me before I left the hospital to use the blow dryer on my incision on a low warm setting when I get out of the shower and that has done wonders. I blow dry the incision, put Neosporin on it and then blow dry it again. The doctor looked at my incision this morning and said it looks great. Hang in there. I will pray for you.

I felt the same thing 15 days post op, it was a bladder spasm. I thought it was a UTI too! stayed on the couch for 2 days with a heating pad on my tummy and drank tons of cranberry juice and it went away.

Never feel silly complaining or asking questions or just feeling miserable. Our bodies have been through a lot and none of us have ever experienced this before. That's what this forum is for - help and support! Fear is our worst enemy in the healing process. We need to stay relaxed so that anxiety doesn't take over and ruin all of our great progress so far!

Prayers and blessings to all! He, too, is watching over all of us!

How long after surgery?

Hi I had a full hysterectomy 2 and a half weeks ago along with bowel surgery at the same time.
I am wondering how long after surgery should I expect some menopause symptoms? I had one night last week with hot flushes but so far nothing else really. Does it take time?
Thank you
Jen

We are all different, I had a couple the first week and Dr. put me on HRT patch...
I have had a few since nothing major or very disruptive,,just enough to know that something was going on. It's great that you have been comfortable so far.but next tine you talk to your Dr. let him know. I started a journal when I got home just to keep track of these things.
Healing prayers

I had my two week post op visit to the dr today. Yahoo!!! It's been two whole weeks. He says I am doing well. He looked at my incision and said that it was in good shape. I contribute that to the doctor at the hospital who told me to use the blow dryer on a warm low setting to keep it dry after showers - I dry it with blow dryer then put Neosporin on it - then dry it with the blow dryer again.

I asked him about driving and he said I could drive, but only if I haven't taken any pain meds. I usually take them when I go to sleep and when I first get up, but haven't had to take any in the day the last couple of days - Yahoo!

I asked him about exercise and he told me not to walk more that a 1/4 mile and not longer than 10 or 15 minutes. Still no lifting anything heavier than 20 pounds. I asked if that meant I couldn't do laundry - he looked at my DH, smiled and said, "No, she can't lift anything heavier than a sock."

I asked him about the twitches and headaches and he said they sound more like stress than a result of the surgery.

We discussed HRT and I've decided to wait a while before I make a decision about that. The hot flashes aren't very bad. I was on Lupron before the surgery and he said that probably helped some. He also said that some women can produce estrogen in other tissues in their body and that could be another reason my hot flashes aren't bad.

Friends, I am so thankful for this forum and just the opportunity to verbalize/journal all this stuff out.

You are in my prayers,
Tammy
