Im at 4 weeks today and feel generally pretty well. Little discomfort daily, rolling around in bed with a tweak here and there, not wearing out as quickly. I only saw my Dr 1 week post op for staple removal and have been on my own since. Go for 4.5 week exam this Thursday and hope she tells me I can get back to some old activities.

I find it amazing how we are all so similar but different. Ive been off pain meds for nearly 2 1/2 weeks, had only a minor discharge the first week and am pretty much pain free and back to myself (other than swelly belly). Other sisters are far behind or even ahead in recovery; arent our bodies amazing?

Be well, sisters!
Hey Carolyn ,... I work in Sp Ops as Vic Adv. I am blessed that I don't have to wear that 20lbs aorund my waist. WOW, that would be an issue with swelly belly and all. Does your Dr. realize you will have to put that back on? You might mention that to her as my Dr. told me that even when he releases me back he doesn't want me lifting or pulling since internally we will all be still healing. Maybe "Light Duty"?
Your surgery was 2 days ahead of mine and I am still sore on the inside and swelly on the out. Still walking gingerly.
But your right, we are all different and healing takes time .
Thanks for the reply.
Healing prayers to all.

I had bright red spotting last week so my DR did a full exam - ultrasound and all - good results - no problems. Probably overdid last week causing a few stitches (internal) to break. He said they are at their weakest right now soto be VERY careful the nesxt 2 weeks. Pretty much no lifting over 10# - I can garden, drive, light housework, with in reason. I am hoping to carch up on my scrapbooks before I return to work. I can walk (have been 3 miles) for the next 2 weeks then can resume normal workout/run.

My DR had me do a bowel prep before surgery - his nurse thinks that is a reason his surgeries are so successful. Anyone else do a bowel prep?

Yup! Another Bowel Prep here. Explained with moving the bowel around during surgery he didn't want anything in it . Makes sence. It wasn't as horrible as I feared

I plan on "riding the desk" for the month of June. Ive still got a "band" of hard tissue at the scar site and it gets irritated and sore for sure. NO WAY I can carry my belt, or even run and do all my stuff. Light duty for sure. I still feel sore internally, too.

I cant wait to feel 100% normal, if I ever knew what that was, again!

Woohoo! Work is going to give me remote access to our accounting software/databases/spreadsheets so that I can work from home for the next four weeks! It will be soooo nice to give my brain the mental workout it's been missing! Even though it's an office job, I'm not allowed back to work until June 25 so I am really looking forward to being able to do something constructive with my time. Guess this means I'm going to have to be dressed properly when our IT guy comes by tomorrow to set this up.....

Otherwise, feeling really good...Metamucil is my new best friend and belly only feels heavy on right side (where most of the surgery was done). Still need to be careful when moving around and no pain except for occasional gas.

My life is coming back to me!

Hey Ladies! Had lunch with a bunch of friends from work. Really didn't feel like it because of my constipation, but it was a going away party for a couple of our teachers so I went. I had a good time, but came home and finally decided to take a laxative. I know its going to kill my stomach, but I don't think I can feel any worse. How much bearing down should I do? It seems like I shouldn't do alot because of all the internal stitches(TAH and pelvic floor repairs). Otherwise I am doing really well. The constipation just came on yesterday.

I have had constipation problems as well I did have bowel surgery at the same time as hysterectomy I was worried about straining and hurting myself but yes I had to strain and so far there doesnt seem to be problems except for haemorroids ( OW) just add this onto the list of things to go wrong!

second week back to work

Hi everyone,

well this is my second week of going back to work. I think the worst thing is sitting at my desk for hours and then trying to get up. It takes a good 3 minutes to actually start walking without looking like an old lady with constipation. Other than that Im pretty much "ok". At night is the worst trying to sleep on my side. Something inside feels like its poking me so I end up back on my back. Waking up at 3:00am every morning is not fun either.
But I got to tell you, my attitude has changed for the good. Im not so irratated with everyone or everything like I was before my hyster. And I dont worry about every little thing. So I am extremely happy about that! Hope everyone is doing well..

I am almost 4 weeks post op and everything was going great until Sunday. I drank margaritas Saturday night and spent the holiday weekend eating a bunch of junk and nows I'm constipated. Had to start taking stool softners again. Otherwise I feel great.
I hope everyone has a great day.
Thanks for the reply. I am really having a time with depression and am wondering if the HRT will help. I'm glad it helped you - maybe I will give it a try.

Hopeful
