4 weeks post op worried

Hi ladies
I had to share how much support I am feeling from you all- thoughtfulness and understanding is a truly wonderful thing...to give so much to so many
Recovery is slower than I thought still internal pain and tiredness- seems day on/ couple days off- emotional rollercoaster crying and sad, cranky and irrational- not sleeping much- then happy for a while til it's starts again
I'm wondering and worried about having sex, it's been a long time beforehand and painful before that- hubby's (we've been married for 3 and 1/2 years and for 3 of them, well, it's been awkward) birthday is 15th June 6 weeks and 2 days post op. the day after my 6 week check- if given the all clear can anyone share their feelings- I was hoping to take him away for a night and have a romantic dinner etc but am so scared not sure if I should...any ideas???

Thanks and blessings to you all
Jo xx

Slowly getting better. Emphasis on slowly. Can you tell I'm a type a gal with limited ability to actually just relax/heal? Back on anti inflammatories and tylenol 3s to be able to get out of bed. Had a "tunnel" complication and it is still healing. I go to wound care every day and they're not understanding why it's taking so long to heal. I'm allergic to plastic bandaids and medical tape etc.. so they are actually suggesting that I may be allergic to my sutures? and that they may need to go in and take them out. The nurse I've been going to each day said she's heard of that happening? Anyone hear of that before? Other things I'm trying>....Discovered I'm only consuming half of the protein I should be having (30-35 grams/day) and not eating enough of the vitamins and minerals I need so I'll try that. Hubby is getting some protein powder that tastes like iced tea tomorrow so I'll be drinking that on the deck. I've been eating/drinking soy products and other antioxidants too. Not driving cars or riding my hubby yet. I believe I need to wait a bit for that anyway.
When will I get better? arrrggg. Frustrated but not losing my eye on the prize of feeling better. My son is in Kindergarten and asked if I'd feel any better by the time he gets into grade 2. I said I certainly hope so, yes.
Kids-I know I feel guilty that I still can't do what I want to do with them. We play cards, do puzzles, art, painting, read books but I just wish I could do more. I know they are resiliant little kids, (hubby broke his neck this year and is now recoverred) but it's a lot to put on them. My oldest was comparing daddy and mommy's recovery times. Youngest son's birthday is coming up and I was getting concerned. I'm a former teacher and have had the best parties for them in the past. I've come to realize that it's not going to happen next week and I'll just have to enlist friends to take a station, so to speak. I'm getting better at asking for help. Maybe it's a good experience for me to go through as a traditional type a personality. I don't need to be supermom. How many times can I say it out loud?
Shar in Canada-getting antsy with recovery-bored of crocheting-wishing I could drink sangria right now on my deck! Right after my 35grams-6 glasses of soy milk!!! yuck.
Hope every one else is doing good.

Hello, everyone. I am glad most of you are feeling so much better. I am at 4 weeks and one day, was supposed to return to my on-my feet job tonight, but delayed for one more week, because my area "down below" has only stopped hurting since Monday, and I did not want to re-injure it. I am taking walks, doing light housework (no vacuuming) and counting the days until my 6 week checkup, for the ok to resume sexual activity. (So is hubby) I left in one ovary, and my emotions have been fine. Maybe feel tiny hot flashes, but not very bad. Thanks for all your support on this board, and good luck with your recovery.

Shar in Canada - sorry to hear that you find soy milk yucky! Have you tried the brand called "Silk"? It tastes exactly like and has the same consistency of cow's milk without that bean-y aftertaste. It's a bit more expensive but definitely worth it. Not sure where in Canada you are, but all of the Weston Group stores (Zehrs, No-Frills, Loblaws, Great Canadian, Fortino's - any store that carries President's Choice products is part of the chain) carry it. I am lactose intolerant and this is the only soy milk I drink.
Good Luck!

Thanks Katzz3. I'll try that brand. I saw it yesterday so I know the stores up here offer it. Have a good one!

Hey Ladies! 4 weeks 1 day po. I always post I'm doing great, but today I'm not. I didn't sleep well and woke up in the middle night with bladder pain. I woke up this morning with my swelly belly and back and bladder spasms. If this is the only bad day I'll take it. I must have over done it yesterday even though I'm not sure what I did to cause it. Anyways I'm going to lay around and do nothing today and hope it all passes. Have a great day!

Energizer bunny has left the building.... When will she return???

I was the energizer bunny until surgery. I have not slept during the day since I was a child. Now anything zi do is followed by a nap. How do you regain stamina? I really want to get back to my energetic self, but man do I pay for trying.
I know it takes different times for everyone to heel, but I am ready of mind, just not body.
Any suggestions on getting energy/strength/stamina built back up? I am starting to feel like a hypochondirac because this is just not me!

Morning to All,
New "issue" last night I felt like there were "sticker burs" in my right front tummy .. I gently put my hand there and they feel close to the skin. WEIRD. I know it is stitches, just why do I have this feeling now??? Asked my friend who is a nurse and she said not to do anyside bends or pulling on that side ,it is stitches and things are still moving around and finding a new home. I am still belly sore inside though which causes me to walk gingerly. I have to admit I am having blemish breakouts also!! uggh. From everything I have read this is hormonal and my body is just trying to find it's balance again. Overall I am feeling good, just tired of being tired. We are having Tropical Storm rains and winds so it is a good day for resting and watching movies.
Thank for listening. Happy Saturday to all.
