Rectum Pressure??

I was wondering if any one is having the problem I am
having? I am 8 weeks post--op for VH. Cystocele,
Rectocele and urtheral sling. All in all I feel great
but lots of pressure still around rectum I am
taking stool softiners and milk of magnesia everyday
so I don't get constipated and they are working
great just pressure every day. Also since I got home
from hospital I have NO appetite at all, now I do
understand I am not working like I use to so I
expected to eat less but I could go all day and not be
hungary. ThoughI don't I am eating just very little.
I am walking 2 times a day, Doc says I can't do
anything for exercise except walk for now. Thanks
for listening..Paula

Rectum Pressure??

Paula-- Do you think that maybe all the stool softeners and laxatives may be contributing to this pressure? The laxative--milk of magnesia--can contribute to that feeling of pressure. Have you asked your doctor if it is still necessary at 8 weeks post-op? I think some of the side effects of laxatives can be nausea and decreased appetite especially if you use them for long periods of time. Please ask your DR if you can back off of using them and maybe this will help.

Of course, I'm NO DOCTOR and am just trying to throw out ideas as to why you might be experiencing this.

Sending {{{HUGS}}} and +++ thoughts.......

Rectum Pressure??

OrahDeb, Thank you for your response. The Doc actually told me
to stay on laxative, because I usually in the past have had hugh
problems wtih constipation. So for now he said it would'nt huty
me to stay on it. So I will not risk getting constipated and undo
everthing he did. But that does explain loss of appitite. I love
this I learn so much in here.. Thanks again....Paula

Rectum Pressure??

I lost my appetite after surgery in fact I think it was partly because I wasn't doing anything. So at the end of my 12 weeks of doing nothing (walking 6-12), I lost 5 pounds of muscle. Within a week of starting to do more and swimming, I gained back those 5 pounds and then some - lol. Now I'm back to where I started.
Please try slowly to start eating more fiber and getting your body used to having it in your system, it can cause cramps and gas if you eat too much too quickly. I feel like I am obsessed with my BM's as I have constipation troubles too, so here I am 5 1/2 months post-op still taking 3 colace a day and eating high fiber cereal once sometimes twice a day and an apple everyday - still I have days where I am constipated. It is hard to figure this out.
