Do I really need granny panties??

So I keep hearing that it's a good idea to buy panties 3x the size you think you'll need with "swelly belly." I'm getting a tummy tuck with my TAH, so I'm wondering if that's really necessary...the tummy tuck website that I've been on says the same thing, that that's the most comfy sollution.

After my c-sections, I just cut the front elastic off of my bikini undies.... not very modest but I thought it was comfy and my pad still fit fine. Will that do or does granny know best?

I really don't want to buy these huge undies unless it's necessary. Feedback is soooo appreciated!!

Do I really need granny panties??

The asst manager of a store where I bought my larger cotton "grannies" said one of the best things about them is that they can just go in the wash, if there is any seepage from the incision.

I bought a three-pack - I deserve to be comfy, and don't want to be pulling underwear up all the time!

But if you have found that is comfy for you, go for it.

Buy the grannies. I did and they are great.

I bought two sizes bigger than I normally would.

You won't need panties 3x your normal size. One size larger should work.

I would do whatever is comfortable for you. I would buy undies a size or two up from what you usually wear. This will prevent any pulling, rubbing, etc. across your incision. Keep in mind that you will swell. I normally wear cute bikini V.S. undies, but because of the size of my fibroids I ended up with an 8 inch vertical incision and the high waisted brief grammy undies were the best option for me. I wanted nothing touching that. Even women that have had the bikini incision felt the same way. I bought 3 pairs, and I figured once this whole thing was done, I could have an undie, tampon and pad burning party.

The reason I bought "granny panties" was to have the elastic top around my waist and not lying over my incision. I agree with ((Catherine)) ~ one size up should do it!

Absolutely. I bought 3 sizes bigger, briefs and they were the best thing ever. Good Luck

Personally, I prefer to wear the mesh panties that the hospital gives me--they are totally non-constrictive and I don't have to worry about washing or ruining them--you just throw them away! I have worn them after each of my 3 c-sections, my laparoscopy, and I plan to wear them after my hyst! If you don't like those panties--or they don't offer them--I prefer the "angelina boy short" from Fredericks of Hollywood. They are cute, a little sexy, and sooooo comfortable (I'll switch to wearing these after about the first week or two). They have a soft elastic that won't hurt the tummy. Good luck with your panty search!

I like bikini udies too but after the surgery the briefs in a size larger felt much more comfortable during healing. When first home from surgery comfort is all you will care about.

Ok, you've sparked my memory-- I wore the big mesh panties for the first week after and they were more comfy than the altered bikinis for sure... When I ran out of them I must have been having a "cheap" moment because buying new grannies didn't occur to me. I will be ready this time!! Why on earth don't they tell you this before c-sections? Oh well! You ladies are great!
