Help! I think I am losing it!

Ok, I have a tender bump just below where my IV was that sticks out like I have a bead stuck in there, which I am hoping will go away . Also, I had an injection a little over 2wks ago to help calm me down due to an on coming panic attack , the injection site, which was done into the muscle, not a vein, has been tender ever since, now its shooting intense pain that just radiates from there . I have some very sharp pains coming from my larger incision, figure thats probably normal. On the other side the incision I just got with my LSH is healing well, but the incision next to it that was done a month prior, by a different OBGYN ( i got a 2nd opinion) who had preformed an exploratory lap procedure is not healing as well and still will occassionally bleed and its very bruised! Now for the grand finale.... I have been telling myself and telling myself, I don't have a fever I should be fine, my temps range from 96.1-98.5 so nothing to worry about. Well, I just have a realization, I am on NSAID for my rheumatoid arthritis that well has the equivalancy(sp?) of over 3,500 mgs of asprin, now I am beginning to wonder if I would actually develop a fever if there is a problem!!!

Anyone have any ideas if this would keep from developing a fever, cause really a fever is only a symptom, and I am treating that symptom everyday already. Or, maybe my ovaries fell asleep and I am losing my mind, cause believe me I am starting to feel a little nuts!

Help! I think I am losing it!

I am sorry you are having so many problems. I do not have any answers for you but I don't think you are losing it! I do know with RA that any change in your meds can throw you for a loop. I would think your body might be adjusting/reacting to all the anesthesia. I hope you will call your rheumatoidologist and your gyn. first thing in the morning. I called my gyn. on Friday with a list of symptoms and now I feel like an idiot for calling, all those symptoms are gone! I was just having a bad few days from doing too much. I will still go in tomorrow, tell her I'm fine now, get my surgical report and come home. I felt bad but then I thought to myself, maybe I am really going nuts and maybe I am really sick! I think it is normal to 2nd guess ourselves. But if I were you I would call your doctors tomorrow and see if you can get some answers and some peace of mind.

Here's a hug ((((((((mdnghtblu5))))))) and I will say a prayer for you too.

Help! I think I am losing it!

Mdnghtblu5,
I am sorry you are not feeling well . I used to teach a pain lecture for an advanced trauma class. I learned alot in preparing to teach it. Probably the thing I learned the most is how our pain receptors work. Depending on the amount of pain a person has had and how well it is controlled in the past can affect pain in the present and future. If a person has had a lot of pain, pain receptors can become sensitive to a lower stimulus (i.e. IV stick), but have a strong response (i.e. crying, screaming). So while you think you are losing it, it could really be your receptors are a little overwhelmed right now. In the fact you have RA, I would guess you probably have some chronic pain. Even on NSAIDS, if you were to develop a significant infection, I would expect you would be able to develeop a fever. With all of that said, I would still let your doc know you are having these problems. I hope you get to feeling well!

Help! I think I am losing it!

Call your doc.
Explain to him/her what is going on with you.
Aches, pains, and emotionally.

According to your survey your ovaries are removed.
You don't mention if you are on any HRT.
It might be time to discuss options with your doctor.

Help! I think I am losing it!

Mdnght, I see that you only had your surgery a day before mine. This is really early in recovery!

I woke up this morning in so much pain I was crying out and hubby had me turn and cuddle to him for comfort. I may have overdone it a bit yesterday.. I feel very sore and bruised, even the holes in my pubic area they put in which I am guessing are similar to laparascopic holes feel very tender today, my body feels totally overwhelmed like it got hit by a truck! I will not be doing much today.

It is okay to feel so low, you are not losing your mind. On the subject of fever I would just call your Doctors office and say you are not feeling too well and is it possible that the meds you take for your arthritis could mask a fever. I am betting that they will say if you have a fever then the fever will show itself drugs or no. An infection has other symptoms not just fever. Just a phone call might really relieve your mind.

Then you can and

Sending you and a and praying you feel lots better soon.

Help! I think I am losing it!

I was also thinking last night after my post that I have had 1 major ear infections and 2 Upper respiratory infections, one of which became very severe, and I never once broke into a fever, actually I cannot remember the last time I actually had a fever.

I agree with what has been said. I just wanted to add my hugs to the pile here. I think a call to the dr to put your mind at ease is a very good idea. in there and let us know what you find out.
