Good evening ladies! I had a wonderful day; I bet I'll be tired tomorrow, but it was so worth it. My brother and sister in law and their new dog came over, then my parents came by with dinner fixings, to celebrate our birthdays (I'm the big 3-0 tomorrow and DH's is June 6). We had the best time; I laughed so hard I hurt.

I get to drive next week, I'm so excited! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Binky61, - had VH and kept ovaries also on 5/9. Went home the next day. I have had zero bleeding, a little discharge if I overdid it the first week. I am so happy with the whole experience. Went to a family gathering yesterday for the entire day, figured I would be wiped out but felt fantastic all day. I am now ready to get back to work (June 4th) and get back to everyday living - pain free and yes PERIOD FREE!!!!!

Hi Nanabanana - I'm going through the same thing! If I have to watch the Prince of Bel Air once more I'm going to scream. I try not to sleep during the day and I'm off narcotic pain meds (they tend to disrupt my sleep more than help.) But once 3:00 a.m. hits I'm up like I've had 6 cups of coffee. Then I do fall asleep but I knock out until 9:30 and feel totally out of it when I get up. Luckily DH gets my DS off to school. I'm trying to get more exercise during the day - well, walking is about as much as I can do. And I'm tired when I get to bed. My doctor suggested Benadryl. Big whoop! I did get Ambien in the hospital and it worked great. I may ask for a small prescription if this doesn't get better. Maybe I'll try Benadryl tonight. I just hope it doesn't make me too hung over. I though the best part of this would be undisturbed sleep. I might as well be recovering from my c-section all over again and up all night with a baby. At least I'd have company. LOL! Any suggestions out there?

Sorry to hear about the insomnia. I had it for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after. Ambien helped a little. Still only slept a few hours but it got me back in a cycle of sleeping. No problems now. You may want to ask for a prescription for it. I feel better now that I sleep.

I have a question. I had a TAH on 5/7 leaving 1 ovary. I have had alot of pain on the left side (the one with the ovary) that is right where my leg bends to the pelvic area. I still can't walk more than about 100 yards..by mid day, way less than that without severe pain. I see posts of people walking around the block and hiking....Is anyone else having this problem walking?????

JtWilliams--I don't get severe pain, but it does hurt. Mine's more like a dull ache, though I'll get what feels like a stitch in my side, only lower.

Cookmac2--my mom's had issues with insomnia during her perimenopause and she recommended Benadryl to me. She said it's the same thing as some sleeping pill, I think Sominex, but don't quote me on that. She gets the generic version, as it's cheaper than the sleeping pill and it works for her. I'm trying to hold off taking anything, but once my time off's up and I have to get back to work, I may have to.

Thanks Potter! That is a great way to explain it - "stitch". That is what it feels like. It is pretty sharp and getting very, very annoying. I am soooo ready to be over this. At least I know I am not alone with it. I guess it will get better in time.

Do you have any fever? Even low grade? I think pain is a signal to call your doctor. Also, keep heart. I have my surgery the day after you and am still recovering - - haven't resumed my normal activities yet.

jtwilliams - I'm walking without much problems, but every once in awhile depending on how my leg is laying when I go to get up, I have a pain real low where my leg meets my pelvic area. I think it's too low to be ovaries. It's also the side the drain was in, so I think it's a muscle that was weakened during the surgery. If I rest my leg, the pain goes away. BTW I had a radical TAH on May 12th. I'm walking around my yard at least twice a day. Haven't left the house yet since I still have a catheter. It comes out June 7th and I can't wait! Otherwise, I feel pretty good.

no fever that I know of. Will check it out with a thermometer though. I have been some things but
not as much as i normally would. I have done some laundry, dishes, light housework, etc. I am usually very active and it is very depressing not be able to walk for any amount of distance. How are you doing? What is everyone else's daily routines, etc?

I make sure not to lift anything heavy. I also don't sleep the greatest, but try not to nap during the day. My daily routine at this time goes like this - wake up at 4:30 PM and keep fighting to sleep until about 9, then I get up and usually eat a little breakfast and then take a shower. This takes awhile, as I have to make sure the ster-strips dry and if I wash my long hair, I try to dry it. I wander around the house not doing much and also work on my cross stitch. I may eat a little lunch and then continue not doing that much. Then it's dinner time, and more wandering and a walk around the yard, then it's bed time. Not very interesting, but it's touch with the catheter to do too much.
