Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 14,2007

Hi ladies, It feels great to be on the post op end. I think the waiting was the worst part. Had LAVH /BSO on Monday May 7th came home Tuesday. I tried to keep my ovaries but the doc said I had endo on them and that was probably where most of the monthly pain was comming from. I guess I won't have to worry about having any more "Happy Periods". Also had two grapefruit size fibriods removed. Now it's time to relax and heal. Take care of yourselves.

Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 14,2007

Hi everyone! I had my surprise TAH May 9th. My doc went in to take out a cyst, found the beginnings of cancer on my ovaries; they both had to come out. He said I also had fibroids that would cause me trouble down the road, so he took my uterus too. DH and my whole family was really worried about how I'd deal with the news of the TAH. I'd gone to my gyn about infertility and come out with this!

I'm doing surprisingly well, though, physically. I've got a 5-6 inch incision that isn't nearly as painful as I was afraid it was going to be. I'm getting around pretty well, but am tired. I'm also a little depressed and cry at random times, but that's normal, I think. I cried when I realized I'd never have a period again. Who'd've thought--I would get such bad PMS and get so sick sometimes and I am sad that that part of my life is done now.

I go in tomorrow to get my staples taken out and to set up an appointment with an oncologist.

Good luck and a speedy recovery!

Greetings, sisters!
Had my seven day post-op visit yesterday. Staples were removed, pathology reports on all organs and mass (large grapefruit sized) removed were negative. In one more week I can drive and dispense with the lovely, sexy TED hose. I had lost 12 pounds (yes, I'm a fluffy sister!). Incision is healing nicely - no steri-strips needed. I'm moving well and feeling pretty good. I definitely need both my morning and afternoon naps but function fairly normally otherwise. Next visit with the doctor is five weeks out and he expects to lift all restrictions at that point. I think I had prepared myself for the worst and thus far things have been far less traumatic and painful than I had feared.

TAH/BSO on Tuesday, May 8

Congrats to you! I wish I could drive already! Dr. said in front of DH, that she wanted me to do nothing for 3 weeks. ARGH! If I hear "the dr. said" one more time today :-)
I am so ready to just browse Walmart!

I hear you--I'm ready to wander WalMart too.

I just had my check up; got the staples out and the steri-strips on. I officially have stage 2b borderline ovarian cancer, so I'm seeing an oncologist tomorrow (I'm so happy they could fit us in so quickly). I feel surprisingly good physically. My doc says I'm recovering really well, considering. Good luck ladies!

Hi Everyone!! I had my TAH done on May 7th and was discharged home on Thursday. But in spite of everything they say to do including walk walk walk, I returned to the ER on Saturday May 12th. With increasing abd pain (I thought It was gas I tried the fleet enemia etc etc) Well long and behold I had a fever too. They called in the general surgeon who said clinincal he would of reopen me, but after a CT scan showed a possible abscess, they decided to treat with IV antibiotics and fluids and then another ultrasound on Monday (which hurt alot) but needless to say the general surgeon, the radiologist and my gyn cannot come to conclusion what they see on the the reports!! So after catching nures trying to hang the wrong IV on me three times I had enough!!!! And told the doctor to send me home!! I can take the antibiotic orally and watch everything else myself he agreed, but only if I took his cell phone number to call him if I have any problems in between now and next week. I just was wondering if anyone has had any problems like this!!!!

Hey, we have the same dates. in on monday and home on thursday. No problems yet. I have really been taking it easy. Walking a little around the house and a little outside but not much. I had antiobiotics for a torn bladder (stuck to the uterus) with my TAH. Bladder infection seems better. Hope it gets better for you soon.
