Yes I've had a change of appetite too. I try and eat light meals during the day and I don't eat too heavy at dinner. I have half of what I used to eat. Last night for dinner I had one slice of pizza and later I had a fruit cup. I think If I eat a regular meal now, it doesn't stay too well with me either. It gives me cramps and then I have to make a dash if you know what I mean. It's almost like IBS. I'm not getting sick. I just have to go to the bathroom frequently. I think I might have to change my diet. It might be that the foods that I used to eat don't work for me now. For me it might be dairy cause I seem to have a problem with cheese.
I remember that my doc told me that the bowels get moved aside for this surgery so that may be the reason for the appetite change. She told me they don't like to be disturbed. My poor bowels! I guess it takes time for them to recoup.

Hi Ang - I'm working from home too for the final few weeks of recovery. You and I are around the same post op time (I had a TAH on May 8th.) Do you find it hard to sit at the computer? My belly gets so tight and swollen if I sit even for a little while. I just don't feel up to any of this even though my work load is light. I have to go to a couple of meetings next week and really feel depressed about it. I'm just not ready. I don't know how others are able to go back so soon, but I guess we do what we have to do. How are you feeling? Maria

Hey Maria

Im sorry you are having the problems you are with the belly. I haven't had any "swelly belly" in a couple of weeks now and it can stay away!! I know what you mean about not feeling up to it tho. I mentally just dont. I know I have to work so that keeps me going, but this whole event has caused me to look at my life differently. My priorities really weren't where they should be. Work is going on a back burner and my boys/husband go right where they belong, on the FRONT. I know what you mean about the depression, the thought of having to actually go in to the office is overwhelming. But that's what we are all here for.

Im feeling great thank you for asking. NO spotting, discharge at all anytime during this. The pain was not nearly as bad as I feared. Not having any problems at this time with fatigue either, but I have the feeling that will change once I go back to work. The only problem I am having is insomnia-I would LOVE a good nights sleep

Ah, the dreaded insomnia. I'm right there with you. My doctor recommended Benadryl which does help some. I just learned that it's the same ingredient that's found in Tylenol PM. Who knew?! No spotting here either so that's a good thing. My period would have been due today. I don't miss that at all. Maybe that's why I'm moody. PMS without the M. Oh well, it's a very rainy dreary day here in RI today so maybe that's not helping my mood. You are so right about putting family first. I just want to be over and done with this but I keep telling myself that there are many people out there who have a lot worse problems than "swelly belly." Let's just count our blessings! Stay well and don't work too hard.

Too funny, my Dr recommended Benadryl too-he even told me it was the med in Tylenol P.M., SO I guess I wont be buying the tylenol anymore!!!! The benadryl does help some, but still struggling!!!! And you are right, there are SOOO many people out there much worse off than I. I feel truely blessed

I finally broke down and bought something for insomnia--I got the generic Sominex since it was cheaper than the generic Benadryl. I didn't take any last night since I was really tired, so I thought I'd sleep well. Guess who had trouble falling asleep and woke up with night sweats? Grrr....I'm taking the stuff tonight!

I had a TAH, Double Bladder suspension, & Rectocele repair (6 procedures at once) I was in surgery for 5 hours and 45 minutes. There are days when I am not motivated to do anything but lay around. Sometimes I do go out to eat lunch and run short errands but I usually am tired when I return. Next week I am supposed to go for my check up - 5 week post-op. I am still having trouble with my bladder leaking. It is much better than week 1 and 2, but I still have a ways to go. I haven't taken pain meds since week 2. I do a little laundry and load the dishwasher but that's about it.

hattie I feel for you too, I too have to go for my check up at the end of the week I am not looking forward to it either, I still have quite a bit of pain and a manual exam is not at the top of my list.
Does anyone else have this trouble, in the morning I am a little sore but by the end of the day I can barely get up and down when I go to stand from a sitting position I feel as if my insides are going to fall out very painful, and I feel as if I am walking like a penguin my legs at the hips just don't want to move right. I wll be four weeks this Friday and seems like I should be better than this. I am so frustrated I want to be able to do more and just can't, I get so tired.

I have four more weeks before I return to work I don't know if I ll be ready. I just cant beleive this has whipped me like this.

I feel the same way. I'm better in the morning. But if I sit at the computer too long (I'm doing some work from home and checking on my hyster-sisters) I find that I have to lie flat for about an hour at a time just to stop the pressure on my belly. I get so sore and stiff. Maybe you are sitting in the same position for too long? I'm four weeks today. It's frustrating to feel better but not have the stamina to do anything about it. I think this is harder than the first few weeks when you know you feel lousy and should just rest. Now I feel like I should be further along so I guess I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. Not that I want you to feel lousy too, but misery loves company. Don't do too much and change position often. That helps.
