length of hospital stay???

I am scheduled for a TAH with removal of remaining ovary on Wednesday, May 16th. My doctor says I need to stay in the hospital until at least Friday. It that a normal length? I was hoping to come home the next day.

I am having a TAH and sling procedure and I was told 3 to 4 days....I guess I will use that time to get on my feet before I go home to the four cats and three dogs! LOL!

length of hospital stay???

My doc told me he prefers 3 days for a TAH, insurance has authorized 2 but that can be extended. Mine is next Tuesday and I'm hoping to be home on Thursday some time. Your time frame sounds about right to me. Dang, I go in the day before you, lol!

Mine was rescheduled also. Was supposed to have it done May 9th but my doctors father in law passed away and she needed to go out of town for funeral. Another week of anxiety about it. Good Luck with yours.

I had a TAH/BSO with a bowel resection my stay was 5 days. The worse part is the beds are horrible and so was the bathroom.

length of hospital stay???

I have been wondering about the hospital stay myself. I would much rather heal at home than in the in hospital. I am absolutely terrified of hospitals and I cannot even begin to imagine what it will be like if I have to stay more than one night. I would much rather be cared for by my family than someone I do not know. I'm sure some of the sisters out there will think I am nuts, but I really do believe that I would do better at home. I plan on discussing my feelings about the hospital with my physician during my pre-op appointment tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully she will understand and consider my request.

Good luck to you all.

length of hospital stay???

Angel, I so wanted to go home. I was almost in tears by the end of the 4th day. To top that off three weeks to the day I ended back up in the hospital again for another 5 day stay because of a heart attack. I am ok now but I so wanted to go home. Its not fun.

length of hospital stay???

I had a TAH/BSO and stayed for 48 hours. I really wanted to stay one more night but my insurance kicked me out even though I had to have a full workup by a Cardiologist for some heart issues. I was still in alot of pain but I didn't have a choice. I did feel so much better on the 3rd day so it was nice to be home. It was strange to be kicked out after 48 hours when I had so much removed but got to stay for 4 nights after a c-section which was SO much easier! Insurance... what can you do?

length of hospital stay???

I was originally told by my Dr that I would be operated on Fri and go home on Mon. I ended up being told on Sun morning at 5 a.m. (Why so early, I don't know.) that I was going home that day. I don't know if it was for insurance reasons (I have great insurance and won't have to pay for any of my stay or so I was told at my pre-op testing. I have not seen a bill or even an explanation of insurance benefits. I can't wait to see what this cost!) or because I did so well post op. The nurse had me stand up the night of surgery and walk around the floor several times the day after.
