Hmmm...I noticed I have been dizzy, too. AND I also have low iron levels due to the surgery. I haven't started the iron supplements yet as I am still taking pain meds at night and don't want to get constipated again...Guess I better start them!

Surgery the 15th, I do not remember waking up in recovery though I must have, since I knew I had issues with nausea and being put under I was hit with anti-nausea drugs every 6 hours or sooner if I needed them, had a morphine button in my hand and life was pretty good...DH only was able to stay one nite, had surgery 3 hours from home and he had to work..no work no mortage payment..lol...so the next days were full of my brothers old college buddys sitting in my room all bachlors, all in their 50's or older nursemaiding me..lol..he sent out a mass e-mail from Korea, they are the old standbys since I have the boys surgerys there they are used to hanging out with me...so far I have did well...I am not allowed to do anything, the girls that take care of the boys are doing everything from laundry to dogs..gas pains have been my worst, I am still on pain meds and am calling for a refill tomorrow, as I still need them at least 4 times a day or so, but only one now, not two..T took my staples out so I would not have to travel to the dr. just for that, not at 50 dollars round trip...ack...and they look okay, she put the steri strips on, dr. sent the staple kit home with me..as far as I can tell I am doing well, though I have not ever had anything knock me like this has..though I am older now then when I had the c's and a lot seemed to be involved so I guess that is normal. I am taking the hormone pill...T makes sure of that, she had a bad experience with a SIL who didn't take hers...I have no problem with hormone therapy from knowing women in their 90's to this day who still take them. But I am slowly becoming better...and I am happy to say my stomach sure looks a lot thinner...I also had trouble with food but I am picking up with it.

Weds will be my two weeks after my LAVH/BSO and I'm hoping I can get back into the hot tub. I got in and only up to my knees and visited with my hubby last week. My only problem is my arm where my IV was. It hurts at my wrist and elbow. It feels like it is broused. There isn't any red and the swelling has gone down but it still hurts. I called and the doctor on call wasn't concerned so I will ask about it again on Wed.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I got to see my daughter whose moved from Kansas to Tulsa, OK and she and I started planning her wedding. $$$ ching ching ching. LOL It was a lot of fun. I got to go out on the town for half the day and napped when I got home. Today I went out to the Lake but the bumping around in the truck wasn't real comfy.

Take Care all.

I hvae the same problem with my IV site and vain. It hurts at the wrist and all the way up to elbow. It is also bruised along that blood vessel. You can actually see the bruise in a thin line from wrist to elbow and it feels like the vain is swollen. I'm going to call my Dr. tomorrow if it's not better but glad to hear that your doc. didn't seem too concerned. Let me know what they say Wed. when you see your doc.

My site bruised too, and oddly enough it looked just like a pumpkin face for Halloween. My whole arm still hurts and even burns when I put it in water even though it's not almost fully healed. My doctor said most likely the vein is just "tired" and needs more time to heal. I don't know about you two but they put my IV in my wrist on the underside. I've never had one there before and the doctor said that site takes a bit longer to heal up. Hope this helps! But if your pain doesn't subside, definitely talk to your doctor!!

I had a problem with IVs too. 4 different people tried to find a vein in the back of my hand in which they could put the IV. The veins were clearly visible but they couldn't put the needle in. They said I had "rolling veins". Every time they were ready to put the needle in...the vein would roll away. They finally put it in the inside bend of my elbow. The tops of my hands are bruised looking but they don't hurt (Thank the good Lord).

I warned the nurse she would have a problem putting the IV in as I think I had 7 needle pricks during an appendectomy, anyway after the warning and pain of trying once she decided to let the anaesthesiologist do it. I didn't feel a thing by him!

IV problems

The nurses didn't have any trouble getting the iv's in. I had 2. One on inside lower left arm(saline and pain meds), one upper left inside arm (for blood transfusion). Weird thing was that I didn't have any trouble with the needle marks, but I had huge marks from the tape. When they pulled the tape off, it created huge black and blues...I thought that was very strange. Anyone else have this problem also?
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did too much on Sunday, cooking-having the family together, going to church.
I fell asleep at 10 and slept 12 hours. I'm feeling lots of pressure and backache today, so the next few days is just sitting and walking a bit. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Wow, they couldn't stick my hands either. They tried twice in my left hand and then once in my right. Said I had valves. And I've had several IVs before. They ended up having to put it inside my elbow, which was better. I just had to remember not to keep my arm bent so that the machine would not keep beeping. She had to come in several times during the night because I'd forget while sleeping and the beeping would wake me up.

I also have some soreness at my IV sites. On my left hand, just below my wrist and the inside of my right elbow. Eventually, that one just came out while I was in the shower at the palace! The site on my wrist is really bruised but not painful any longer. . . the right arm isn't bruised appearing, but still have some random pain.

I was supposed to have my first post-op visit right now, but, my doc was called to an emergency. . . darn. I really wanted to see her today! Maybe I'll get lucky and see her this p.m., but I expect it to be rescheduled later this week.

Nothing in this process has gone as expected. oh well.

Hope all had a good weekend. . . Beeasur
