I am fortunate in that I am retired. Tomorrow is 3 weeks post op and I have good days and bad.....Take your whole 4 weeks, you won't regret it. Just my opinion..

Had a TAH on May 16th feeling good, no pain but very emotional. Not sure of how much I should be doing. Feel great one day not so great the next. Had 4 previous surgeries and thought after 2 wks that sex was ok. Then read some of the messages on the post and am thinking it wasn't such a great idea. Feeling ok but a little worried. Anyone know when it's ok.

I have a f/u appt with my doctor today so I was going to ask him if he thinks it would be safe for me to go back to work or if I should continue to wait to allow my body more time to recover to see if he says the same thing as before.

Has anyone else gone back to work early? How much time has everyone taken off work for the recovery period?

I had TVH on May 16th, today is my first day back to work. So far it has been very uneventful full of people making sure I dont lift anything and all of them asking how I feel (todays count so far I have said "I'm fine" 29 times)

My doctor said I could work 4 hours a day but right now I have been here 5 so far but my job is really easy as you can tell Im sitting here on the internet the same as if I was at home. So I figured it made no difference if I am here or at home so Im sticking it out for a little longer heck they are paying me to sit here.

I told my boss I was only approved for 4 hours so if things get to boring around here I have an excuse to leave lol

I think the really test will be tomorrow when I wake up. Then I will be able to tell if this really over did it or not

You ladies are all amazing!

I am so impressed with everyone in our group here...you all seem to be very brave women! Sorry, I can't remember everyone's name that I want to reply to...but, here it goes...

I think Donna was going back to the doc at the hospital for the bleeding and clots...my prayers and well wishes are with you. I hope someone is there with you taking care of you. PLEASE, do not overdo it.

For everyone that is going back to work before the 4-6 week mark. PLEASE, do not overdo it. Read up on some of the complications that can happen from pushing yourself too much. Rembember the statement, "You only have one chance to heal properly"....do it right!!!

Also, one of the sistas coined a phrase that we should claim as ours leaving our mark for the HysterSisters website, "Your path for healing is one you and your body need to be on". This is perfect!

I can so relate to the skin tenderness some of ya'll are experiencing. Yesterday, the skin covering my whole swelled belly was so painful. Tender to the touch, no matter how soft. Burning and felt like sandpaper and been scraped across it. But, today...not like that. Weird how each day is different, better overall, but sill different. I like to measure each day by looking back and comparing how one small task that I can do today, I couldn't do a couple of weeks ago. Sorry, I know that I'm not exactly getting that point across, but measuring my milestones is how I lift my spirits and know that I'm moving in the right direction.

I think that the Swelly Belly band got too much usage after I received it and may have contributed to my skin soreness...??? Dunno if that's it, but going to give my belly a break from cold packs and see if that helps.

Gas! OMG, when will the gas stop??? Those bubbles moving through my belly still hurt so much. I'm sure I am eating some foods that are not helping, but is anyone else who is a the 3-week post op still having lots of gas?

Sorry to ramble so much.....I hope you all feel better tomorrow morning than you do today!

I am going for my 2wk post op tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knew what would happen at that appointment. I feel really good. I had a LAVH on the 21st and have had little pain except for the pain around my belly button. Let me know what you think.

My LAVH wBSO and other repairs was the 14th. I am doing well, I think. My doc's been out of town and I won't have my first post op appt until next Tues! ick. I have had some complications but mostly am doing alright.

I am still having gas issues and some discharge that is pinkish. . . last week, I over did it one day and had some bleeding. Scared myself into slowing down! The main challenge I am having is with fatigue. I am sleeping at least 9 hours each night and still taking one long or two short naps each day. My normal routine is 8 hours of sleep nightly and working a 10 hour day. I am not sure if this is surgery related or that I've turned into a slug! But, the way I am feeling right now. . . I can't imagine going back to work for even an 8 hour day. I am open to suggestions to increase my energy and stamina. . . I am scheduled to be off work for another 3 weeks. . . But really need to build myself up . . . my job is mentally and physically strenuous, and I can't go back half-*ssed!

oh well. . . suggestions?

thanks for all the support. . . I wish I'd known about this site BEFORE the surgery. . .

I had TAH on the 18th and still have gas pretty regularly too. I have been using Gas-X after any meal that I think will affect me that way. It really helps. I have my next Dr. appointment on Wed and was told it was to see how things are going and discuss what happens from here on.
I overdid it a little today. Drove 30 minutes each way to get my hair cut and then did a little shopping (very slowly) . My "swelly belly" is pretty sore now.

I just went for my 2 week check-up.My doctor just checked the incision. She said she would do the internal exam at the 6 week mark.It was "eazy, peazy, lemon squeezy".I'm not looking forward to the internal exam.Good luck tomorrow.I'm glad to hear that your not having alot of pain. You are probably healing very well.I wish you the best!!!!
