I am at day 22 and my bleeding has increased. At my 14 day checkup, it was just a reddish stain. Now it is bright red blood. It hasn't soaked a pad or anything like that. I am hesitant to call the DR. because I feel like a complainer. I know I've done too much. I had a LAVH and I think I though my recovery should be quicker. Anyone else experiencing bleeding at this stage? Thanks.

Don't be afraid to call. You may have some bleeding from the softening of internal stitches, according to what my doc told me when I went in for the pad-soaking episodes on Sun. and Mon. I got swabbed with silver nitrate and it stopped almost immediately. Now I have only black-ish blood from the clotting.

Make the phone call. Your bleeding woes may be only a swab away. Better safe than sorry and you will also sleep better when you know for sure.

Had surgery on may 15, took cervix, uterous and left ovary. Not quite what I expected. Went thru emergency as I thought I had an infection from a hysteroscpy I had the week before. TUrned out the left ovary was twisted in two and had two polyps. I am at week three and still bloated in the belly and going to the bathroom is not a treat. Did anyone have pain in the legs. Called my doc and she said it was fine as long as no swelling. No problems with incision it just seems to be my bowel, weird freaky substance. Which have been assured is normal. I do feel 100% better than last week.

Problems with Belly and Bowel and Leg wk3

Has anyone else had problems with their belly being swollen at three weeks, Iwasnt really sure what to expect as mine was not a scheduled hysterectomy, but done thru emergency. I also started to bleed more at week two, I also went right to bed and did nothing. I did however go see my doctor who said it was normal. I also called about pain in my leg, but because there wasnt any swelling they claimed it was normal. Not sure what to expect next. I did not recieve alot of info from hospital or doctor.

Did the nitrate hurt

Hi Chickey. The nitrate didn't hurt -- the swabbing on a 2 wk. vaginal cuff hurt but I toughed it out. It literally takes only a minute or so, but it's a LOOOOOOOONG minute!

My gut looks worse than it did during the first week and it's somewhat depressing. My legs and butt are nice and tight from all the walking and I'm working on my arms while sitting with my 3# weights, but my gut has just gone completely to pot. It actually looks bigger than before the surgery but I'm assuming it's from not using any abdominal muscles except for the BM push. Veteran hyster friends have told me it will go away, but not to expect any miracles for several months. Guess last year's tankini won't be too cute this summer.

I've had leg pain off and on -- sciatica prob. from the positioning in the stirrups during the surgery and some minor nerve compression. It went away with rest and leg elevation while I was lying down. My bowels are my worst symptom -- that darn gas is worse than labor!!!!

Thanks for your reply, I was starting to get nervous about the leg thing. I am sure my family doctor now dreads my phone calls. Because I went thru emergency and was not scheduled for this procedure I didnt have much info on it and what to expect. Than you start scanning the net and read horror stories about blood clots and infections from bowel. I finally found this site after days of searching and I am so glad. I sit in my kitchen and stare out at my pool andwonder if I will ever get in it again.. I have been told to remain off for 8 weeks due to my job( i thought it would be a walk in the park) boy was I wrong. I cannot wait to start swimming again. Luckily the weather in NOva Scotia *****, so I wont have to miss to many swim days.
