I know how you are feeling. I was feeling better last week (at 3 weeks out) than I am this week. My abdomen is very sore and I actually had to take a pain killer last night, because the pain was keeping me awake. Even with that I slept terribly. I am definitely NOT a "patient" patient and want to be back to normal. How whiney does that sound????

Hi everybody! I have been reading about everyone, but haven't posted much. I am just past 4 weeks since my TVH and overall I am feeling good.
I have to agree with those that said they felt better last week though. I think I really overdid it last week, because the last few days I have been really tired. Not really sleepy, but worn out.
I have been battling a UTI also which doesn't help.
I spent 3 days last week at my sons' cub scout day camp helping and I also had Lasik eye surgery done last Friday. I am amazed with it. I can see so well! I also started back to my one day a week job yesterday. I guess that all explains why I feel tired!
I am ready to have energy and to really enjoy the summer!! I am not being patient enough I guess. I will say...I would have had a period by now and it really feels great knowing that there will be no more bleeding and no more pain!!
It has definitely been worth the small amount of trouble.
Take care everyone and happy healing!!

Love2Quilt,

Not in quite some time, but it sounds like mucousy bowels that you can get with IBS or colitis. My darn bowels are still bothering me as well. I got constipated again from having the flu for 2 days and as I type this I'm sitting here in a skort (made of a semi-stretchy fabric) and I have the zipper down -- this bloating is just unreal! I can start the day with a sort of flat stomach and by the end of the day -- it's like Shamu has taken up residence in my pants! The gas pains can still be excrutiating and stop me in my tracks. I don't dare go too far from a toilet in case I double over -- when I get the pains I feel like I have to go "try" to make something come out and have taken Motrin just for gas pain!

Isn't this just the pitts? (And I don't mean Brad!)

Day 27:
Doctor visit yesterday-
He is very happy with my progress. Asked me how I'm doing, and I said, "Fine, just very tired, sleeping a lot."
He replied. "Well, Duh! You had a big operation!"
Then we had the look-see...
Woo Hoo!
I'm cleared for horizontal activities!
But not cleared for return to work ;-). We're taking the full six weeks for that!

Isn't it amazing how much swelling happens during the day? My stomach is also fairly flat when I wake up in the morning but by afternoon - balloon belly. YUCK!!

Getting Tired of the BLoated Belly

I too wake up with a flat stomach and than by noon, look out. I was fortunate enough to be put off for 8 weeks, since I work for government, not a problem, Iam than taking 4 weeks vacation right after that. I spend alot of my day in a bathing suit, so I am not going back with a big old belly. I am still not able to drive, I go back next tuesday to get the green light on that. UGHHH. If it wasnt for the bowel and the bloating Iwould be great. Luckily the weather in Nova Scotia has been downright awful, so I am not missing out on much weather wise. Keep staring at our pool wondering when the heck Iwill ever get back in it.

I hate to say it but I am wishing my summer away so Iwill feel better. My 20 year high school reunion is 4 weeks away and I am organizing. I can only hope to be back to my normal shape by than

i couldn't hold out regarding the driving and i started after 2 weeks.... although i will admit (to you guys only), that i was a bit nervous driving that for some reason i'd have use my stomach muscles and pop a hernia! i am very better though with everything, stomach, sleeping (yippee) and last night i was actually cold.... i had to put my p.j.'s back on and not 1 hot flash... just cold! had a minor surgery yesterday on a polyp in my rectum so i was back to feeling crappy w/anethsia (sp?). Today alittle better and at work now, but still not great and i'm leaving early. i look forward to the day when i feel great again and i don't have to complain!!!

I am feeling better today and my friend is coming to pick me up to take me out to lunch. I slept better last night, too, and the crampy yucky feeling I had all day yesterday is gone. Guess is going to be one of those good days! Hope you all have a good day, too!

Surgery yesterday, back to work today. How the freak do you people do it. I must be a wimp. I couldnt even imagine going back to work yet. I actually dread the thought. I manage a couple Municipal pools,so I am in shorts and bathing suits alot. Always new young staff,so always training. No way do I want to be back into bathing suits next to these 16-18 year olds. I have to say , before my surgery, I felt I was in just as good physical shape as they were, as youth today, dont seem to care about their rolls hanging out. Now I am not so confidante.
I am attempting another outing today, my dad and I are going shoping for fathers day gifts, this should be a hoot.

This afternoon Ivisit my family doctor about the 'Poop" issue , to make sure it is normal. Icant wait until next week to see my surgeon, Iwould be a wreak wondering.

I am so thankful to havefound this site, I have to say after reading the posts, I always feel better.
