Hysterectomy May 15

Hi Ladies,
On may 15th I had a LATVH.
Recovery is going great. I take short walks about 4 times a day, and drink at least 12 glasses of water a day. My last pain pill was Friday night. Three days post-op. The pain right now is like menstural cramping. 1-2 on the scale. The worst pain I have is in the morning when my bowels start moving. On a scale from 1-10 that pain goes up to a 7 or 8. I wonder if this is normal. I nap at least 2 times a day for 2-3 hours. Cabin fever is already setting in. I hope you all are having a smooth recovery.

going back to gyn doctor this afternoon - i'd be glad to be put back in the hospital. low-grade fever, gas, chills, diarhea (sp?) now my cath bag isn't filling. Love my gyn doctor, hate my urologist troll who can't even have his nurse respond to all this until late this afternoon "because they are busy with patients..." unlike me, chopped liver... glad everyone else seems to be mending, wish I could say the same. Surgery was 16th - thought I'd be doing much better than this! susan

sbmanatee-
urologist troll- hahahaha I love it!
mine is a combo of cary grant and john stamos. Very embarrassing first visit thinking uro guy is the hottest thing I've seen in a long time in person. Very nice guy too. Married, kids, still a cutie pie...hard to talk about urination with him though.

Hi PT.

Sorry about your PITN. Mine is more of a PITA!

When I did yoga there was a neck roll where you put your chin to your chest and SLOWLY look R and back to center then L and back to center. Also another good neck stretcher is SLOWLY dropping your ear to your shoulder and back on each side. Also you can try the 4 compass points stretch -- forward and up, back and up, look far L and back and far R and back.

Just remember to take it slowly. It's probably tension from pain and trying to get comfy with a fresh incision. If all else fails, a heating pad and a chiropractor may help. I had it really bad after one of my c-sections from the nursing position. Sympathies to you

Hey girls! Posting latest update. Thought I would be leaving castle on 5/17 but Doc wanted me to wait one more day. Had surgery early am 5/15, home around noon on 5/18. I was pretty nausous first day till about 7pm then felt like a new person. They took catheter out 5/16 am and I started going to bathroom myself. I took gas x for gas pains and they gave me stool softners. I began walking hallways per Doc instructions to get bowels moving. I did pass a little gas and a very little stool pm 5/16 but it counts! I was not interested in solid food till evening 5/17 but Doc said I could have had it that am. Felt pretty good 5/18 when came home but 5/19 sat afternoon went downhill. Had problems with gastritis from motrin tabs and could feel really need to have bm. I was trying to eat small amounts of healthy high fiber foods and drinking small amounts of prune juice along with lots of water but I felt like I was just going to explode! In am 5/20 sunday I drank 8oz of prune juice. Finally! Went 6x that day, although it was very painful and I was very exhausted I was so glad to be going! Today is Monday 5/20 Bm still painful but I think that possibly that is because my Doc says my uterus was attached to my intestines by adhesions which he removed. I was very exhausted and listless yesterday and this am but am feeling much better now. Will keep you posted. I will be asking for help and info on adhesions. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOU HELP AND SUPPORT. I AM PASSING THE WORD ABOUT HYSTER SISTERS!

Hey Precious,

I tried Colace and finally had to settle in today with good old MoM for the bowel relief. I am not going to leave the house, well, I wasn't going anywhere, anyway. But, I am really tired, I can't believe how low my energy is. . . ick. It's been one week today! yippee! At least I survived it. . . now if I could just get a little energy going.

Hi Beeasur! Is Colace a stool softner? I think that is what they were giving me in the castle. Anyway I never thought I would be so glad to be having bm's in my life! I have to tell you that after each one I had to go lay down. I was exhausted after each time but felt so much better after all was said and done. I did not even think about Mom. Let me know how you make out because I'll do anything to make the movements less painful at this point. I definately do not want to end up like that again! Good Luck!
