Can't Wait!

Hello all!
This is my first post to HysterSisters and I am so excited. I talked to my doctor on Monday about finally going through with a total Hyster. After many many years of bleeding and problems with Polysystic ovaries and super psycho hormones I've had enough. It started getting really bad back in 98. I started bleeding around Christmas of 97 and was still bleeding very very heavy in March 98. I finally had enough so I called every doctor I could find and none of them could get me in. I finally found one that could get me in on the 29th of March. On April 4th I was having my first D N C. It just seemed to get worse from there as if that wasn't bad enough ( long story won't bore you with details)! That was in Texas. I got stubborn and didn't mess with it until about 2 years ago when I went to my family doctor with problems again. He sent me to my GYN now and he found moderate and severe dysplasia so I had to have a LEEP done. Not a fun experience! Scared me to death! So now I finally get to have some Relief. I go in on the 29th for a Total Hyster, Ovaries and all! The 29th can't get here soon enough! Ya'll are so wonderful on this board. I can say for now, I'm not even scared except for the knock out gas, my digestive system doesn't like it. But I'm sure the day before may be a different story. We'll see, but for now I am going to enjoy ya'll and make the countdown to a healthier life.

Can't Wait!

Hello,
Good for you that you are feeling to confident and can't wait. I'm also getting a total hysterectomy done on the 29th, however, I'm concerned about the anesthesia and how I'll feel afterwards. I'm hoping for a "quick recovery" and trying to stay positive. Hope everything goes well for you!

Hi and welcome.
It sounds like you've had a long journey to here. I noticed that you're pretty young ( I have a DD your age ). I would advise her to really research the pros and cons before having her ovaries removed. Even though I was in my 50's and post menopausal when mine were removed ( precancer ), I went into a pretty drastic "surgical" menopause. I'm still taking hrt now at almost 5 years post-op. Please ask your dr if it's at all possible to save one or both of your ovaries. Of course, like myself, you may not really have a choice. But, it's certainly worth asking , IMO.

I always react to anesthesia I talked to my dr about it and he ordered phenegran to be given as needed. I didn't get sick at all. There are several options available. Please let your dr know about your concerns.

Best wishes.

Echo, Jasmin- how wonderful we can share our Hystory date! Yes, I am also looking forward to being pain free and being able to wear something other than black or navy blue!
Jean- I cannot keep my ovaries, they are the biggest reason for all this mess. They are bad and full of polyps and fibroids. I probably should have done it a while back but I tried to hold out hope that maybe they would decide to work or maybe God would decide that I would be able to have children but He didn't and thats for Him to decide and even though I do not understand... I will respect what I have been given or not given and be happy with it. I have a step daughter that means more than the world to me so she is all I could ask for. No one knows or fully understands God's ways, but it really does work out for the best of us if we would just take the time to sit back and look at the bigger picture. How do I know that after this is all said and done, that I would feel better than I ever have before? Just make your peace, trust in God and go in singing His praises and all will be well.

Blessings to all of my new 'Sisters' and I will enjoy our journey to the Castle and to the other side.
